Windows and Office Are Helping Students Crowd Source Their Next PC

We want to make sure everyone is starting this school year off on the right foot. So today, Microsoft is launching a program to help students and parents purchase a new Windows PC or Tablet for school that is complete with the latest and most complete set of Office applications.

Chip In

At the Windows Chip In website, students with a valid .edu email address can crowd source funds to help them purchase a PC of their choosing from the Microsoft Store catalogue of devices. To help get them started, Windows will “chip in” the first 10% of the cost of the PC via a discount to the overall cost. The PCs included already reflect the 10% discount. Then, when a student fully funds the cost of a PC, we will include Office 365 University at no additional charge.* Plus, students wont have to pay shipping, handling or tax!

Here’s how it works:

  • Go to http://www.windowschipin.com/.
  • Pick out the PC you’d like to help get funding for.
  • Create an account.
  • Ask friends and family to “chip In”.
  • Fund and receive a code for a brand new Windows PC or Tablet + Office 365 University.

This program will run from June 4th through September 1st, 2013. For full terms and conditions, please click here. For questions and FAQs on the program, please click here.

**Microsoft Office 365 University subscriptions available to the first 10,000 eligible participants who fully fund their PC goal through this offer.
