Corona SDK—a tool used by more than 300,000 developers worldwide—enables 2-D app development across multiple platforms. Corona Labs is the latest in the growing number of companies that create cross-platform developer tools to support the Windows platforms.

Publishers who have invested in Corona SDK will be able to decrease time to market and quickly extend reach to millions of new users by targeting the Windows platforms.

flaregames is one such publisher.  Matthias Schindler, flaregames CTO, is excited about the announcement: “Our first game on Windows Phone, Royal Revolt! has been very successful, with well over a million downloads and counting,” he said. “By supporting Windows platforms, Corona Labs will make it even easier for us to maximize our apps’ reach and success.”

Corona Labs expects Beta support for Windows Phone 8 to be available in the first quarter of 2014.  This will be followed by full support for Windows Phone 8 and Windows Store apps.
