Nokia N9 – global news

We’ve not covered any Nokia N9 updates for a while (apart from Joe’s mention of the Slovenian dance-off contest and subsequent video screen shots last week), so I thought it was about time I had a look.

First up, Naushad writes on the Gulf News site that the the N9 is

‘in a class of its own in terms of design and is the best looking and slickest device the company has released in the past year’

Not a bad opening, as reviews go, and the rest of the post is a look at various features. Naushad is vexed somewhat by the ‘lack of a back button’, but overall the phone gets some good praise. There’s a list of Pros and Cons (great way to provide a quick reference guide for readers) that includes: ‘Extremely easy to use’, ‘Excellent build quality’ in Column A and ‘Non removable battery’, ‘No HDMI port’ in Column B.

Moving further East now, to the guys at Northern Voice who have taken a similar look at the phone (in comparison to the Nokia Lumia 800) and list their thoughts under handily-titled paragraphs. It’s quite a detailed look at form factor, dimensions and weight, which is great for anyone who is weighing up their options (no pun intended). The post is more of a comparison without going into how each phone performs in the real world, but that’s not to say it’s of no use. A cracking read for anyone caught in that tricky decision between the N9 and the Lumia 800.

Finally to the U.S. and Marcus Yam of Tom’s Guide (great site name!) who has re-introduced readers to a couple of videos. The first is the ‘Nokia N9 Journey’ which shows in great detail how the phone is made, showing the individual machining of various parts.

As a bonus, the Nokia Lumia 800 ‘Making of’ video is also included. Well worth watching if you haven’t already!

What we want to know, and what’s always important to us, is what you think. Have you got an N9? Looking to get one? How do you think it compares to the Lumia 800? @Nokia_Connects is the channel to let us know your thoughts, or leave us a comment right after this sentence ends….
