Week in Pictures

Another week has been and gone and it’s time here at Nokia Connects to highlight our favourite images from around the world this week.

1. Summer Solstice

The Northern Solstice this year (that is, the summer solstice for the Northern Hemisphere), took place on Wednesday 20th June. Thousands of people turned out at Stonehenge to celebrate the dawning of midsummer, despite it being one of the wettest solstices on record. At least they got to see a ray of sunshine!

2. Niagara Falls tightrope walk

Remember the canoeists pictured on the edge of Victoria Falls? Well, daredevil Nik Wallenda topped even their nerves of steel by tightrope-walking across the 550 metre gorge of Niagara Falls. Wallenda first came to the falls as a child and vowed he would cross it – now he has!

3. Red Bull World Cliff Diving Championships

Moving on from walking across water to diving into it, this week also saw the opening ceremony of the Red Bull World Cliff Diving Championships in Corsica. Having watched the video trailer to this year’s event, I can say that this is pretty much one of the coolest (and scariest!) sports I have ever seen! Roll on the dives!

4.What if?

I’m sure we’ve all wondered what would happen if you kept on driving at a red light (well, I certainly have!). This image from Scarlett Madison sums up that sentiment perfectly, with the simple yet effective caption: ‘If you don’t at least try… you’ll always wonder ‘what if?’

5. Water Pearl

And last, but by no means least, we have this lovely image from Pulkit Gupta taken on his Nokia N8. Seems like the perfect way to end a wet and rainy Week in Pictures!
