Looking for a job can be very stressful, but having all the information at your fingertips can make life easier. JobLens aims to help you at every stage: discovering new openings, researching those positions and assisting with your application.
The location of a potential new place of work is important to any applicant. Using HERE LiveSight technology, users of JobLens need only hold their Nokia Lumia smartphone, such as the Nokia Lumia 925 or Lumia 928, in front of them to see local job openings using augmented reality on their Lumia’s screen. If you’d prefer to not use augmented reality, you can also view job listings in normal map view.
On-screen, jobseekers can identify exactly where the job is in relation to their current location, how far away it is, and also receive detailed information about that posting and the company itself.
When applying for any job, it’s good practice to know as much about the company as possible. JobLens is a good resource for company info, such as financial news.
Interestingly, by power of your social networks, you can see which of your friends may be able to connect you with the hiring manager.
Sometimes, knowing someone who can recommend you within a company can give you an advantage; so make sure you use it.
To perform the social interactions, JobLens uses the various social networks you may be connected with, such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Windows Live.
The job listings themselves are delivered by Indeed, one of the largest job search engines worldwide.
In terms of applying for a job, JobLens helps you create and store your résumé/CV in your SkyDrive account. When the time comes to apply for a job, you can then share your résumé via a link to SkyDrive. If you’re a successful applicant, JobLens can then provide you with directions to the interview.
If you’re looking for a specific role, you can pin your job searches as a Live tile to your Start screen. This makes future job-hunting simpler.
JobLens enables you to not only search for all the local jobs listing, but also receive up-to-date information from specific employers if you’d prefer. This is ideal if you’ve always wanted to work with a company you love, or if you want to work closely with people you know.
The Resource Center section of JobLens is a handy tool when it comes to investigating employment trends. It shows you what the average salary is for a specific role, what the commute time is like in different neighbourhoods, and also job trends. All of these are vital to know when applying for, or accepting, a job.
