With Path’s free private and group messaging, you can send voice, text, photos and fun expressive stickers to friends.
And for those who want to share the occasional moment to a larger network, you can easily post your Path moments to Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and Tumblr.
Design & quality
“We’ve designed Path specifically for your personal life and the people that matter most to you,” says Dave Morin, co-founder and CEO of Path, in an interview with Conversations.
“It’s very private and simple and we focus intensely on design and quality. We try to give you a beautiful way to capture and share those meaningful moments with your close friends and family.”
Path has been working closely with Nokia to offer Windows Phone users the best experience possible. One area that’s been particularly fruitful is imaging and Path is already making use of the Nokia Imaging SDK.
As a result, Path’s Windows Phone app will have over 50 unique photo filters that are exclusive to Nokia Lumia smartphones.
Building for Windows Phone
Path has a unique feature called ambient location sharing, which automatically updates your location when traveling to a new neighborhood or city (users can control this feature under Settings). Dave says “it’s something that ‘no other social network has.”
With the close integration of great imaging and location tools, Windows Phone and in particular Nokia Lumia, sounds like a great fit for Path. This is a sentiment that Dave wholeheartedly agrees with.
“We’re a product and design-driven company just like Nokia. So we’re really excited about some of the product features that we were able to develop using Windows Phone, in particular things like Live Tiles and the ability to integrate our notifications directly into the lock screen,” he says.
“It really gives us the ability to do some unique things that just aren’t possible on other platforms right now.”
Fittingly, our interview with Dave Morin took place at the launch of the Nokia Lumia 1020, which critics are calling the best Windows Phone and best camera phone ever made.
What does Dave make of it?
“The Lumia 1020 is clearly a fantastic breakthrough in mobile photography technology. Its amazingly sharp camera makes it very conducive to Path’s photo moments. In particular, the way that Nokia is redefining what it means to zoom is a really interesting thing.”
