Spruce up your Nokia Lumia

The product launches at Nokia World last month may have had you searching desperately down the back of the sofa for spare change to buy a new Lumia, but if you’re keeping your current Nokia there are plenty of ways you can jazz it up, making it feel like a new handset.

Nokia-820-shells

Shells

New shells for phones like the Nokia Lumia 620, Lumia 625 and Lumia 820 give you the option of changing to a new colour or simply swapping to a shell that isn’t scuffed. This will help to keep your Nokia Lumia looking in tip-top condition, and can help it to look like new again. The wireless charging shell for the Nokia Lumia 820 even lets you charge your phone via a wireless charging plate, eliminating the need for cables.

Colourful Coloud headphones

A new colourful shell will go fantastically well alongside the Nokia Coloud headphones, bringing a splash of colour into your life. These lightweight headphones are available in a range of different colours (matching the bright hue of your Nokia), they’re comfortable, and they sound great.

Camera grip

If you opted for the Nokia Lumia 1020, the camera grip is one of the best accessories you can buy. The grip helps to prevent your Lumia 1020 from getting scratched and provides an additional battery to keep your phone going for longer. As the name implies, it also makes photography more comfortable, with the ergonomic grip making it easier to hold the Lumia 1020 steady. There’s even a tripod mount on the bottom.

Car holder

Give your Nokia Lumia a new lease of life by using it for different purposes. A car cradle like the Nokia CR-200 means you’ll be able to take it out and about in your car, using it as a sat-nav device as well as a phone, and it supports wireless charging so you can continue driving for longer.

Wireless charging plate

If you’ve never used wireless charging you’re in for a treat. No more looking round for micro USB cables, no more fiddling around each time you want to charge your phone; simply put your Nokia Lumia down on a wireless charging mat and off you go! What’s not to like?

Themes

Sprucing up your Nokia Lumia isn’t just about hardware though, and there are plenty of ways you can change the look and feel of the Windows Phone operating system itself. It’s easy to start by changing the themes, and swapping the Start Screen icons to a different colour. Simply go to settings and press the ‘Themes’ button, and then pick a new colour.

Ringtones

Why not give your Nokia Lumia a new sound too. Open settings, and then click ‘Ringtones + Sounds’. There are plenty of pre-installed ringtones to choose from, but it’s also easy to create a ringtone from your own music collection. Simply download Ringtone Maker, open the app and pick the track you want as a ringtone. You can also follow our how-to guide.
