Around the world in 80 Lumias: France

“I see that it is by no means useless to travel, if a man wants to see something.” says Passepartout, valet of Phileas Fogg, in Around the World in 80 Days.

Needless to say, here at Nokia Conversations, we agree 110%. Alas, when you’re as dedicated as us to showcasing the hottest Nokia stories you don’t get the chance to jaunt around the planet as much as you’d like. Happily, thanks to modern technology, there are other brilliant ways to the see the wonders of the world. One of them is, of course, your Nokia Lumia.

To celebrate the fantastic photographic power of our favourite smartphone and the worldwide community of Lumia lovers, we’re launching a brand new blog series, Around the world in 80 Lumias. Every week we’ll be showcasing Nokia Lumia photographers from different countries giving us a unique perspective on our amazing planet though the lens of a Nokia Lumia.

First up France’s very own Olivier Wong-Man-Kan, a resident of Paris and proud owner of a Nokia Lumia 920. Before, we showcase ten of his amazing photos we asked him a couple of questions about his passion for photography and the way he works.

So, Olivier how long have you been into photography?

“I’m actually pretty new to photography. To tell you the truth, my Nokia Lumia 920 is the most advanced camera that I have ever had. I didn’t know anything about photography 6 months ago. I’ve never had a classic camera or a DSLR.

What do you like best about your Nokia Lumia 920?

“My Lumia has really enabled me to discover this fantastic world of photography.  I love to use ProShot as it enables me to choose different settings like on DSLR. And since October I’ve been using Instagram, as @wonguy974, which is a great way of sharing my photos and enjoying others.

Where in France do you like to shoot best?

Paris is where I live and is consequently where I have taken most of my photos so far. The city is so beautiful, especially at night and when the sun goes down. The lights are really amazing and you can really let your imagination fly when it comes to photography. I also love Marseille. I was there during the summer, the weather was wonderful, only sun and no cloud. And last but not least, Ile de Ré, which is an an island off the coast of La Rochelle, on the west coast of France. It has incredibly beautiful landscape. I’d definitely recommend it.
