Why the Lumia 635 passes the enterprise test with flying colours

The vibrant colours of the new Lumia 635 have attracted widespread attention across the tech community. In case you’ve been too dazzled by the gorgeous yellow, green and orange shells to check out the phone’s professional qualities, now is about time to dig deeper.

If you are looking for a device with uncompromised performance that delivers a host of excellent productivity, security and storage features, this affordable yet awesome smartphone is the answer.

Smooth operator

Besides 4G LTE support, a 4.5-inch ClearBlack touchscreen, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a quad-core processor, the Lumia 635 delivers unrivalled business benefits that are unique to Lumia devices. Running on the latest Windows Phone 8.1. platform, it enables seamless synchronization with other devices, from desktop computers to tablets.

When it comes to business apps, the Lumia 635 has Microsoft Office Mobile built in, meaning employees can take their documents with them and work co-operatively with colleagues on the go and across offices. The new Word Flow keyboard makes typing incredibly smooth: just glide your finger on the keys to compose messages faster and with less effort.

Always on top of things

One of the most exciting things about Windows Phone 8.1. is Cortana, your intelligent digital assistant (currently available in the USA only). She’ll remind you of your upcoming meetings and tasks, search for contact details and messages, check the weather and get to know you better every time you use your phone. To quickly get on top of your tasks, you also have the new Action Center, which shows all your time-sensitive notifications at one single swipe.

And thanks to the Lumia 635’s preinstalled HERE navigation apps, with turn-by-turn directions covering around 200 countries, you’ll not just remember all your meetings but also get to them on time.

Store and store some more

For business users who need to download and save large presentations, images, videos and productivity apps, the microSD card slot brings welcome extra storage potential to the Lumia 635 – up from 8GB to 128GB. This is complemented by 7GB of free cloud storage with OneDrive for those files you need to access wherever you are. Carrying a world of business information with you couldn’t be easier. And with the newly added auto-triggered VPN and S/MIME support of Windows Phone 8.1., it’s more secure than ever, too.

Its 3G twin features dual SIM

While the Lumia 635 impresses with its 4G support, its sister device Lumia 630 with 3G capabilities comes in two variants – single and dual SIM. The first Lumia to give us dual SIM, it’s particularly appealing to business users who prefer to separate business and leisure. To make things even simpler, business and personal contacts can be organized under their own live tiles, too.

Uncompromised performance at an affordable price

The Lumia 630 is rolled out in May, beginning with Asia, Russia, China, India and Europe, from $159 for the single-SIM variant, and $169 for the dual-SIM variant before subsidies and taxes. The Lumia 635 will be broadly available, including in the US, starting this summer from $189 before subsidies and taxes.

With such a bundle of business bonuses packed under its colourful covers, we’re confident enterprises around the globe will be giving Lumia 635 (and the Lumia 630, too) the green light. Do you agree? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.
