The Lumia Denim Update delivers a host of top features to enhance your Windows Phone experience. One feature is 4K recording*. But 4K doesn’t just apply to video. It’s also great for audio. Check out the sounds.

Before pressing play, switch the settings to 2160p (4K) and pop in some earphones for maximum enjoyment.

Playing the drums in the video (recorded by Antti Kangasaho, Senior Microphone Specialist at Microsoft) is Rolf Pilve, the drummer from power metal band Stratovarius. We think you’ll agree that the quality of sound recorded by the Lumia 930 is impressive.

The level of detail captured is mostly down to four omni-directional microphones on the device recording the sounds from different directions.

For instance, the sound levels in front of the camera are recorded at a higher level, while the sounds from the other side are reduced resulting in a better focused sound experience.

Additionally, clever algorithms are also at play to give you a more real sound, and the ability to record louder sounds than before means there’s less distortion when you play it back.

4K audio recording doesn’t just apply to musicians; it can also enrich everyday moments.
