The Lumia Start screen—a blank slate that you customize with the specific apps, background image and lock screen you want—is unique to Windows Phone. It’s one reason why we love Lumia.

Now, Microsoft has come up with a customization Start screen tool (linked below) to help you test-drive a personalized Start screen of three newer members of the Lumia family:

Lumia 540 Dual SIM
Lumia 640 LTE
Lumia 640 XL

The online tool–view on your PC or Surface 3 or smartphone–takes you on a quick two-step process to make the Lumia Start screen work for you. First, choose a background image. The nine colorful images are bold and fun, ranging from pop art to nature photography.

Next, choose two of the six themes that most interest you: Business, Social, Sports and Fitness, Photos and Video, Gaming and Music, and Travel.

Tap the link, “Take a Look,” and you’re shown your own personalized Start screen, complete with handpicked apps that represent your two themes. Take the time to peruse the various apps, which are quickly and individually summarized.
