A few weeks ago we announced our intention to release an official SkyDrive app for Android phones. Today we’re excited to announce that the app is now available for download. We want to ensure that you’re able to have your files accessible across the various devices you use—so it’s important that we continue to extend the SkyDrive experience to the devices you use every day. This new app for Android is similar to our mobile apps for Windows Phone and iOS and is a key part of making sure your SkyDrive files are accessible and shareable from all your devices.
In building the new SkyDrive app for Android, we wanted to ensure we kept the same intuitive design of all SkyDrive experiences while also making use of Android design patterns and conventional interactions, so this feels natural for people with Android phones. In this release, SkyDrive is available for Android phones with access to Google Play. The new app is designed to work best with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)—though it’s also fully functional on Android 2.3 and above.

FINALLY!!! Although it's going to be short lived for me, because I'm on a WP8 device as soon as Nokia releases one for AT&T :-)
The tile / list / image tile view is much better than the SkyDrive for Windows Phone app. I'm really hoping Microsoft is taking a look at this.
Otherwise, I'm happy with SkyDrive on my Windows Phone, although it doesn't work flawlessly through the Office Hub. (Refreshing view takes FOREVER, infinite loading)
@Jarrich ... Yes, I also have the "infinite refresh/loading" issue, although it started after I uploaded nearly 60GB of files to SkyDrive. Prior to that it was always very fast. I hope that improves going forward with WP8, and for now I just use the SkyDrive app instead.

No Auto Upload of Camera Pictures? Guess I'll stick to DropBox until that's added. I've already copied my entire SkyDrive contents over to it, anyways and it has that feature...

The New App is beautiful! So happy to see MS really really stepping up to the plate and offering all these new cool tools one right on top of the other! Love Windows 8 now that I've been using it for awhile. I too see two Windows 8 Phones in my very near future and at least 1 Surface tablet. I'll have lots of Android stuff to dispose of then. The O/S update process on these Android phones is absolutely pathetic.

wow. Not even a clean M3tr0 (i tried to not use THAT word) app can make Android look not-ugly.
Why is it nicer than ours on WP? The tiles, icons, we don't even have those and when will Google ever release an app for us after all these efforts from Microsoft? We don't have any official Google app in our store and Microsoft keeps on releasing nice apps even better than the ones on WP for them....SMH!
Disappointed that there's no auto upload feature. I was really hoping that I could set a specific folder to automatically upload whenever there is new photos put in it. Please add that in the next update!

Ditto on the Google apps for WindowsPhone. Maybe if they were hit with an anti-trust lawsuit things would be different.

I wish you created a mode like in Google Plus - Upload All Photos (One Direction) without resizing.
It's quite rare to require at least 2.3 version of Android to install such a simple app. By that you're making sure that SkyDrive app will NOT be available for 20% of Android users.

@je6105, ditto? Are you sure? Metro UX is Microsoft research exclusive. The hacked Metro shell for Android should be challenged in court.
Any chance of making PDF files searchable? This is an important feature for me. On Google Drive it works perfectly and my ability to use SkyDrive is limited until I know I'll be able to search *inside* the document, not just on filenames.
Is the SkyDrive app going to become available on the Nook Tablet (which is based on Android 2.3)?
Im Sorry but how LONG does it take for Selective sync to be coded?
I don;t see what the hold up is, and Frankly that is THE KEY feature missing from skydrive.
Im actually pretty fed up waiting. Im planning on waiting 24 hours and if there is no news about skydrive's selective sync feature then im just going to buy a paid dropbox account..
I like SkyDrive on my Android phone, however, I am not able to access my SkyDrive Groups. Can someone tell me if this is available? That's the main reason I installed the app.

I have a Kindle Fire tablet and cannot download skydrive. Is there anything being done about that?
