Today’s an exciting day! We are announcing that more than 240 million licenses of Windows 7 have been sold. Windows 7 is the fastest selling operating system in history. As of September, Windows 7 was running on 93% of new consumer PCs and has over 17% global OS market share (according to Net Applications as of October 1st). There is an amazing array of great PCs out on the market today. Six months after launch, 100% (over 18,000) of our OEM partners were selling Windows 7 PCs versus 70% for Windows Vista PCs at a comparable time period. And there is an incredible ecosystem of products – software and hardware – that work great with Windows 7 too. You can check out and discover many of those products at Windows Product Scout which was announced yesterday.
Over the last year, we saw that customer satisfaction for Microsoft had outpaced Apple in February and in May the American Customer Satisfaction Index report showed a jump in customer satisfaction for Microsoft in 2010 over the previous year. Both of these attribute Windows 7 as the key factor for improved customer satisfaction for Microsoft. Customers are very happy with Windows 7.
Businesses are getting on the Windows 7 train. Microsoft News Center has a fantastic article giving an overview of Windows 7 for business and includes perspectives from analysts and Microsoft executives highlighting several Windows 7 customers. I also recommend keeping an eye on the Windows for your Business Blog as we’ll also be continuing to highlight customers there too!
And of course we’re committed to delivering more value within Windows 7 for customers going forward. We’ve just released Windows Live Essentials 2011 and the beta of Internet Explorer 9. We want people using Windows 7 to have the best PC+ cloud experience. The beta of Internet Explorer 9 has been downloaded 6 million times as of Oct. 1st.
To celebrate Windows 7 at one year, we wanted to share our 7 lists of favorite Windows 7 highlights. We’re going to want you to share your list of 7 favorite things about Windows 7 but I’ll get to that in a minute.
I’ll kick things off with my list of favorite Windows 7 features…
1. Windows Taskbar: Windows 7 introduced enhancements to the Taskbar that introduced the ability to “pin” your favorite applications to it and move it in any specific order you want. Pinned applications also have Jump Lists (which can also be seen in the Start menu if you pin them there too) showing recent documents or files or quick access to popular tasks within the application. In the last month, Windows 7 users have used Jump Lists 339,129,958 times! I have a core set of applications I use every day, such as Outlook, Messenger, Writer, OneNote, and Seesmic Desktop 2 that are pinned to my Taskbar. With Internet Explorer 9, I also have several of my favorite (and most used) websites also pinned to my Taskbar like Hotmail and of course The Windows Blog! Pinned websites can also have Jump Lists! 2. Libraries: I have a lot of files stored in a lot of folders in different places on my PC and my home network. With Libraries, I can bring all of these files and folders together into one place. 3. HomeGroup: I love HomeGroup. HomeGroup makes it super easy to share files and printers (or Libraries!) across your home network. When you create a HomeGroup, you can choose which Libraries you want to share out to your HomeGroup and also any printers you want to share out. Any Windows 7 PC that then joins your HomeGroup can utilize the printer you shared and access the files within the Libraries you’re sharing out. 4. Aero Snap: With Aero Snap, people can quickly resize or “snap” an application window to the top, left or right sides of their screen. If someone drags an application to the top of their screen, it will maximize that application. If they drag an application to the left or right sides of their screen, it will “snap” to that side of the window (half screen) and will appear side-by-side to another open application if another application is open. I use this heavily when writing blog posts for The Windows Blog. I usually have my browser “snapped” to one side of my screen (one of the 3 monitors I roll with here in the office) and then Windows Live Writer “snapped” to the other side. In the last month, Aero Snap has been used 150,957,478 times in the last month. 5. Devices and Printers Folder: The Devices and Printers folder is like the Start menu for a PC’s devices. It displays all the devices connected to your PCs like webcams, monitors, keyboards or mice. The Devices and Printers folder makes device management in Windows 7 super easy. I absolutely love being able to go to a single place to manage my connected devices and many of the devices I have connected support Device Stage for an even better experience. 6. Windows Media Center: With Windows Media Center and the Ceton InfiniTV 4 CableCARD TV tuner I am having a wonderful time recording all my favorite TV shows in HD and watching them on any PC in my house (courtesy of HomeGroup!). 7. Aero Shake: Aero Shake allows a person to grab an application with their mouse, and “shake” it to minimize any open application window except the one they are holding with their mouse. Sometimes I have so many applications open at the same time; I just “shake” them all away (minimize them all at once) to keep my focus on what I’m doing in one application.

Ben Rudolph, or “Ben the PC Guy” as many of you know him as, shares his 7 favorite Windows 7 PCs from this last year. As I mentioned above, Ben has done a lot of great work highlighting many of these awesome PCs running Windows 7 in blog posts on the Windows Experience Blog.
Without a doubt, this has been the best year ever to be a PC. I could spend hours talking about all of the great hardware I’ve had the chance to work with over the last year, but to keep with today’s theme, I’ll just highlight my 7 of my favorites: 1. ASUS UL30vt: Yes, I still love it so much that I feel like I’m cheating on my wife. Why? Because it gets 12 hours of battery life. Let me say that again in case you missed it: 12 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE. That’s enough juice to fly from Seattle to London, watch movies the whole way, and still have power to hit a meeting when you get off the plane. 2. Sony VAIO Z: While the ASUS Ul30vt will always be near and dear to my heart, my current love (i.e., my everyday laptop and the one that I had with me in the hospital when my son was born) is the super luxurious Sony VAIO Z. It’s 3.5lbs, comes with NVIDIA GeForce graphics, Core i5 processor, 6GB of RAM, and a Blu-Ray drive. My favorite part, though, has to be the 1600x900 resolution screen. Once you try it, you’ll never want to use a 1366x768 display ever again. 3. HP ENVY 14 with Beats headphones: You simply have not heard digital music until you try it on an HP ENVY with Beats Audio outputting to Beats by Dre headphones. If you love music, fire up your Zune Pass on this PC and give it a listen. It’ll change your life. 4. Toshiba r705: It’s the lightest full-feature laptop ever built (3lbs.), which makes it a dream to carry around on your back all day, as I often do when I’m on the road. You can customize your config with killer specs like a 500GB drive, 8GB of RAM, and up to a Core i7 processor at a price that won’t shatter your piggy bank, and as a bonus, it sleeps/wakes faster than any other laptop in my inventory of 75+ computers. 5. Origin EON 18: It’s the baddest PC you’ve never heard of - unless you read my Conan the Barbarian-inspired post, of course. It’s 18” of off-the-wall gaming insanity, packed with just about every top-of-the-line spec you can name. A 1080p screen? Check. Core i7 Extreme processor? Check. 8GB of RAM? Check. 768GB of solid-state storage? Check. Dual ATI Radeon GPUs running in Crossfire mode? Check. The bonkers list of components goes on from there and it’s all packed inside a gorgeous, well-built chassis. Bravo, guys. 6. Dell Vostro v13: For me, this PC is a lovable paradox. Super slick design (it sports almost the same chassis as the high-end Adamo), massively comfortable enterprise-grade keyboard and trackpad, 6 hours of battery life…and a sub-$400 price point. Although the Vostro v13 was designed for small businesses, its low price, reasonable specs and great industrial design (and ergonomics) make it a perfect choice for anyone on a modest budget. 7. Acer FerarriONE: I’ve always wanted to own a Ferrari, and now I do (sort of). The FerarriONE is a killer 12.1” mini PC that looks as fast as it performs. And unlike most netbooks it has full-res 1366 x 768 scree and ATI Mobility Radeon graphics, along with 2GB of RAM and an AMD Vision processor, so it handles Windows 7 Home Premium like a dream. If you’re looking for a mini PC with some personality (or something to satisfy your mid-life crisis on a budget), look no further.

Lisa Worthington, our resident mommy blogger, shares her 7 favorite Windows 7 themes. Did you know that 78% of Windows 7 users are using a custom or downloaded theme?
Since I have a work PC, a family home PC and my own laptop for my home office, I find it fun to personalize each with varying themes. I like the variety and vibrancy of the themes, and my daughters get delight out of seeing fun new photos rotate through. I’m sharing my list of favorite Windows 7 themes I rotate out for my personal and family PCs. Check out the options available and see which you like best to personalize your PC experience. 1. Choobies – Besides the great name, this theme is one of my favorites because it’s very kid friendly without being too loud. I loaded this on our home PC as my girls really like the colors and the characters’ expressions. 2. Eerie Autumn – You have to check out this set of pictures which will put you in the Halloween spirit! In case you’re wondering, Edward Cullen is not featured but I think you’ll enjoy the haunting photos included. 3. Dusk and Dawn – This has always been one of my personal favorites for my home PC, especially in the fall. This is a classy set of pictures and matching glass to let you escape momentarily to another place. 4. Year of the Tiger – Who doesn’t love this set of pictures! On the Chinese calendar we are now in the year of the tiger, which represents bravery. Not just a set of fierce photos, this also captures cuddly mom and cub moments and up-close shots of this beautiful animal. 5. Shrek Forever After – My kids adore the Shrek movies so I couldn’t help but add this one as a family favorite. 6. Nature by Mike Swanson – This theme captivated my attention with its vibrant colors. I particularly love the green and purple foliage shots. 7. The Best of Bing – This collection of pictures is probably my favorite for its diversity of photos taken around the world.

Olivia Riley shares her Top 7 Windows 7 customers. Olivia has been blogging about Windows 7 customers on the Windows for your Business Blog. Customers are deploying Windows 7 and doing some pretty neat things with it.
1. General Motors has made significant progress on their Windows 7 deployment and their IT leadership loves the speed of our operating system. They have about 22,000 employees on Windows 7 and expect to have about 80,000 employees on Windows 7 by the end of 2010. 2. Allen Matkins is a unique law firm based in California. When they rolled out Windows 7 to their employees they took a creative approach to training, with a movie theme complete with tickets to the show and popcorn. Employees really got into this training and had a lot of fun with it. For more info about their deployment, check out their case study. 3. In their pursuit to serve and protect their community, the Vernon Hills Police Department decided to transform the video surveillance in their patrol cars to ensure they were using the best technology for the community and officers. They created a Mobile Video Platform (MVP) solution that integrates with patrol car systems and takes advantage of the multi-touch experience with Windows 7. Check out our blog on their story or this case study for more details on this. 4. Feeding America is a hunger-relief charity with food banks across the United States that help feed millions of people every year. The organization turned to Windows 7 to help maximize productivity and give employees more time to focus on their job instead of focusing on how they’ll do their jobs. You can read more about this in our blog or their case study. 5. Holland America was an early adopter of Windows 7 and rolled it out early to their customers on the high seas. Check out this video on their success. 6. The New South Wales Department of Education and Training is the largest government body in Australia and Training decided to give high school students and teachers a computer as part of the Australian government’s Digital Education Revolution initiative. You can find out all about their deployment from our case study and video. 7. Windows 7 helped Alternative Environmental Solutions, an environmental consulting and remediation firm be more productive and green. Here’s their story.

Mark Relph, Senior Director on the Windows Ecosystem and Developer Team, shares his 7 favorite Windows 7 products. Mark isn’t a stranger to The Windows Blog and often pops in to talk about what’s going on in our ecosystem.
1. I’ll start my list with something our family uses every week. The LifeCam Studio. We moved to Redmond from Toronto and we have friends and family there and across Canada. We use our LifeCam and Windows Live Messenger 2011 connected to the Windows 7 PC that powers our home theater to do larger than life video calls with the people we miss the most. 2. My gadget weakness is definitely worst when it comes to my home theater. I use Play To with my home network to stream pictures and video to my WD TV Live Plus HD. It doesn’t hurt that it also supports Pandora and Netflix as well. 3. More from the home theater – if you are looking for a powerful A/V receiver that communicates with your Windows 7 PCs look no further than the TX-NR808 from Onkyo. It sports the “Compatible with Windows 7 Logo” and fully supports Play To. Plus it sounds great. 4. Plants vs Zombies from PopCap Games is addictive, fun and the best “time investment” on my laptop. It is made even better delivered by the great games service from WildTangent. 5. As an avid Twitter user, Seesmic Desktop 2 is essential. A great looking app, it helps me managed my Twitter stream and aggregate my social network world. 6. In high school I was that geek that loved comics, I admit it. I still love them, so I think Graphic.ly is a cool. A Windows 7 touch-enabled app for reading and sharing comics! 7. Online is the only way shop for me, so Amazon.com pinned as an app in IE9 is essential. Direct access to the site right from the taskbar. Awesome.

And last but not least, here are our Top 7 favorite Windows 7 quotes from press and influential people on the Internet. We read a lot about what these people have to say about what we’re doing and think looking back a year later at what they said about Windows 7 would be interesting.
1. “I believe it is the best version of Windows Microsoft has produced. It’s a boost to productivity and a pleasure to use.” -Walt Mossberg/Wall Street Journal 2. “Coming off its disappointing predecessor Vista, Windows 7 aims for something that previous Microsoft operating systems have seemed to overlook: simplicity. It makes an effort to stay out of your way with a slew of practical, low-key new features. You’ll find that you’ve never been more aroused by a taskbar in your life, as you say goodbye to useless clutter and hello to the magic of jump lists. Altogether, with the smooth, futuristic style of the Acer Ferrari and the minimalist functionality of Windows 7, you might even manage to impress a couple of Apple nerds.” - Jesse Brukman/Maxim 3. “Windows 7 is something that the entire industry has been waiting for. With almost all corporate buying of technology on hold for the past year, Windows 7 finally gives them something they can sink their teeth into.” - Roger Kay/Endpoint Technologies as quoted by Alex Pham/Los Angeles Times 4. “The reality is that Windows is indisputably the best operating system for business.” - Tony Bradley/PC World 5. “Never before has the industry launched such a variety of new form factors, price points, technology upgrades, and design innovations at one time. With Win7 delivering improved capabilities in power management, networking, media, and touch, the variety of systems available appeal to a wider range of buyers than ever before.” - Stephen Baker/NPD 6. “[Windows 7] is, without question, the most impressive software development effort Microsoft has ever undertaken.” - Ed Bott/ZDNet 7. “Let me ruin the surprise right up front by simply stating the obvious: Windows 7 is the best OS, ever, for portable computers.” - Paul Thurrott/SuperSite for Windows

Congrats guys, impressive stuff :)
@Tom Warren - thanks and great to hear from you!
1. Readily downloadable themes with pretty awesome pictures. Love the one with Dogs and Cats and also the Best of Bing. Helps too that the desktop changes at intervals akin to a really long slideshow. Transitions are wonderful too.
2. The feature that lets you put windows side by side/ restrict them to a part of the screen by dragging them to one side. That Aero Snap is one really useful thing. I haven't really used the "put it to the top of the screen to maximize it" feature much but it's always wonderful to have my resume side-by-side while I'm editing my Statement of Purpose in Word.
3. I like the look of the new taskbar. It's a lot easier identifying with icons rather than long and unsightly lines of text on the taskbar as was the case in previous windows versions.
4. I don't know whether this is a feature, but I've found it much more stable with far less number of UAC-like prompts which Vista would bug me with.
5. Windows XP Mode - This one feature saves you when you're dealing with a stubborn piece of older software that just won't run under compatibility mode. Free XP inside Virtual Machine for the win! Extremely useful when dealing with test practice software like the ones from ETS.
6. The New "Show Desktop" button. Or the lack of any overly-visible button. The placement of the feature is excellent. You just reach out to the corner and voila you can check out your desktop in an instant.
7. Aero Peek with more detailed thumbnail previews. Ones in which I can even close the application without having to maximize it.
Those are just SOME of the most wonderful features of Windows 7 that I've come to love.
@Gaurav - thank you for your awesome 7 list!
Congrats!
My list:
1. Aero Thumbnails which let me close open windows very easy.
2. Aeropeek ofcourse. This is a great function to take quick look at my desktop.
3. Movable items on the taskbar are nice. Something I've been missing in previous versions. Also I pinned my favorite programs on the taskbar which makes my life a little easier :-). The Taskbar with icons and without titles keeps it very clean.
4. With the new slideshow function I don't need extra software to do this. I'm using this function from the beginning and it's still fun to relive my vacations everyday.
5. Support for Image files is very handy.
6. For my work I now use Windows XP Mode. Nifty feature to use old programs in Windows 7!
7. BitLocker togo keeps the Files on my USB drive safe. I don't have to worry that much when it's missing.
@ michel14 - when you say support for image files, your're referring to the ability to natively burn ISO images to disc right?
Congratulations!
My list of 7:
1. Calculator: Although it's a simple program, I love the new Calculator. As a student studying Computer Engineering, I find the Programmer mode useful. There's also the handy unit converter and history viewer.
2. Aero Snap: With widescreen orientation more prevalent, Aero Snap is a useful and quick feature for arranging windows. Without having to waste time manually resizing my windows, I can easily snap them to the left and right side. I'm also glad that there are keyboard shortcuts for this feature, as I often use keyboard shortcuts to save time from having to always move my hand between my mouse and keyboard.
3. Homegroups: Homegroups provide a great way to access various media files across my home network from anywhere in my house. My desktop PC holds all of my media and I can just access them from my laptop and stream them wherever I am.
4. Libraries: I have lots of files in lots of places on my laptop and PC, so Libraries have become very useful in pulling everything into one area.
5. Remote Media Streaming: Since I'm often at school rather than at home, and pretty much all my media is on my home PC (only use Windows Live Mesh to sync photos; take up much less room), Remove Media Streaming comes in handy. If I don't have my Zune with me, I can just access my playlists or my entire music library from anywhere where I can connect online and stream it.
6. Themes: I really like how the Themes change the look and feel of the desktop. What I like most about it is the changing desktop background. Every time there's a new Bing's Best theme, I download and try it out.
7. Windows Taskbar: As an avid user of the old Quick Launch Bar, the new taskbar easily became my favorite feature. Being able to view windows thumbnails as well as peeking at a window on mouse-over is great. The Jump Lists make access to documents and program commands so much more faster and easier. It's also great for pinned sites through Internet Explorer 9.
Well here we go.
7. XP Mode. Thanks to xp mode, I don't have to worry about legacy application issues. I can now use my pc knowing what I need will work, one way or another.
6. Faster GDI render time. It is much snappier in 7, and provides a nicer experience.
5. UAC controlls. They help me choose the level of security I need for me, and my clients.
4. TRIM support for solid state disks. This helps a lot and is very important. Funny that not even OS X does this yet ;)
3. Simplistic explorer design: The side bar is great for end users in explorer and I love it too!
2. Responsive/quick sleep to awake time. Since I am a senior in highschool, putting my pc to sleep is very common. Having it wake up so fast is a great advantage to me.
1. Reliability. Windows 7 gives me peace of mind. I never have to worry about complicated issues and it is always there for me when I need it.
I am James Manes and those are the 7 things about Window 7 that benefit me, and my friends, the most. I guess I should also thank you for helping me get that A+ in English IV. ;)
My favorite things about 7...

Here's my 7 favorite things about Windows 7.
1. Superbar - Now I can easily pin my most used programs to superbar and access it fast with just one click.
2. Jump lists - Once again common programcentric tasks with just one click. The best aspect of Windows 7 is that you get what you want, where you want and the way you want with much less hassle.
3. Aero Snap - One feature of Windows 7 I regularly use. It is the most efficient way for rearranging windows according to me.
4. Revamped UAC - Warns me only when its needed unlike Vista.
5. Libraries - Again a feature that make my life easier. Now I can access pictures, music, videos etc scattered all over my PC from a single place. Especially useful for a lazy guy like me who don't like to do a lot of organizing. It kind of organizes stuff for you.
6. Home Group- Simply put, networking for humans :)
7.Play To - Now I can play music in my computer via any device having DLNA.
7 Things I love of Windows 7:
1.- Explorer. The new Windows Explorer is more clean and easy to use. The left panel is more useable than Vista's Explorer, Libraries are a great way to organize my files.
2.- Taskbar. As the computers are moving to widescreen, is necessary to maximize space, so with this new taskbar I can put the taskbar on the left without loosing efficiency.
3.- Windows Media Player 12. I love Windows Media Player, is very well integrated to Windows, and is the only player than saves rankings into files.
4.- Aero Snap. Is simply, but I love it! I use Aero Snap features all the time.
5.- Themes. Is great that you support this feature with more and more themes. I love those themes made by artists.
6.- XP Mode. Since I upgrade to Vista, I have to stop using software because incompatibility issues. There are virtualization software out there, but XP Mode offers me a free license and a excellent integration with Windows 7.
7.- Performance. Windows 7 starts fast, resume from suspension fast, runs fast. Is more fast than XP, and consumes less memory. This is the main reason for moving to Windows 7.
Here's my seven reasons (in no particular order):
1. The new taskbar. It's easy to use and lets me quickly access my favorite programs whenever I want, without having to clutter my desktop with shortcuts.
2. Jump Lists. This lets me access recent documents and important tasks within seconds. And, if you have IE9, you can pin websites and get Jump Lists for them too!
3. Aero Snap. This feature makes reorganizing windows a... well, snap. Gone are the days of having to manually resize two windows so they're the side by side and the exact same dimensions.
4. Libraries. Aggregate files from around your computer into a single location. I keep all of my data (music, pictures, and videos) on my second hard drive. With Libraries, I can tell these locations (and more) to automatically appear in the appropriate places. Plus, Libraries sync with Windows Media Player, Zune, Windows Media Center, etc., so your media libraries are always the same.
5. HomeGroup. Sharing has never been easier with HomeGroup. It's simple to set up and even easier to use. In fact, if you have multiple PCs in your house, HomeGroup is an extremely good reason to upgrade to Windows 7.
6. Themes. Themes make it easy to customize the your computer. It's easy to change the color, switch your desktop background, and download/create new themes. You can also subscribe to a dynamic theme, like Bing, which will automatically update your desktop background with new images.
7. Notification area. Get rid of the clutter and smartly manage notifications, tray icons, etc. With Windows 7, these annoyances are automatically hidden. However, users have the ability to customize it to fit their personal preference. The row of tray icons a mile long is finally gone!
I've been using Windows 7 since the Beta was released almost two years ago, and I can't go back. Nothing is as good as Windows 7!
My favorite 7 features of Windows 7 are...
1) Jump Lists: Helps me get where I want, quickly.
2) Aero Snap: I use this CONSTANTLY! Windows Key - Up, Left, Right, Down has really changed the way I interact with windows. I love it! Every time I use a Mac I am bummed it doesn't have an Aero Snap like feature.
3) Aero Peek: Desktop I see you, this helps me check the weather on my desktop Widgets quickly.
4) Windows Search: Quick, easy and accurate way to get what you want without the clicking through the Explorer.
5) Sleep: Quicker to sleep and resume, makes my netbook an always on device.
6) HomeGroup: Sharing files and printers made achievable on my home network, finally.
7) Action Center: Hides all those popup balloons I don't want to see, putting me in control.
(1) It free up 35% more hard drive space
(2) It recognizes hardware quicker and loads drivers immediately
(3) It is absolutely beautiful
(4) Startup time is an amazing and fast
(5) Its integration with programs from up are an old school computers dream come true
(6) Its ability to remove current and future conflicts from accruing is time saving and easy
(7) Did I mention it is simply beautiful, oh! ok! Then last but not least it ability to recover windows you are working from unexpected power lose is just what the doctor ordered.
First thing I like in Windows 7 is Windows 7 itself...

7. Taskbar(which I love to say "SuperBar")
7. WMP12, media sentre, snipping tools nd all other accesories
7. Folder Management

3) Libaries
4) Homegroup

7) UAC configration
Can't wait to see what happens to Windows in the next release. Keep up the hard work.
With sales like Microsoft could buy Adobe next year.

1. New troubleshooting platform
Man This saved me from heaps of trouble, so it's no.1 in my list.
2.Taskbar
I love the new improvements, but I changed the default setting as I like some text on the taskbar
3.Aero peek
4.Aero snap
5. Jump lists- great feature! I use it all the time
6.Action center
7. Overall performance and usability improvements- great improvements much better than vista and xp. It makes ME FEEL IN CONTROL and I like that more than anything.
Looking forward to windows 8
@Windows 7 I like it because of the Aero Snap, Fast start up, Themes, XP mode, show desktop, aero peek, & picture slideshow. Can't go wrong with using windows products everyday.
Congratulations Microsoft for such a comeback. I have always been a Windows *Fanboy* and an early adopter of Windows OS.
Here are my favorite features of Windows 7.
1. Windows XP mode – I have to deal with lot of legacy softwares which are not upgraded for Windows 7. The Windown virtualization tool to run Windwos XP is really helpful to me when I have to deal with these legacy softwares.
2. Jump Lists – This context menu helps a lot to quickly open recently used documents. Also useful to quickly start private browsing mode for IE.
3. Windows Themes – With every celebration in a given year, I can select the theme and my system adapts to it. It’s fun to see rotating themed wallpapers.
4. Streamlined UAC – A big improvement from Vista. Less annoying but still keeps you secure.
5. Progress bar in taskbar – When file copying is done, I don’t have to keep opening the explorer to see whether it finished or not. It’s all visible on the taskbar icon.
6. Libraries – What an amazing and thoughtful feature. Now I can keep one library and point it to various locations to keep the information at one place.
7. Search from Start Menu – This feature was in Vista too but I love this. No time wasted in looking for icon on desktop or in Windows explorer. Just start typing and off you get the file you are looking for.
8. Other than these, I love the “Live Essentials” and “Security Essential” offered by Microsoft. Life wouldn’t be same without it.
Keep the good work up and I am expecting to see Kinect like gesture features in Windows 8. :)
well first of all I would like to say congrats to the Windows Team for getting us probably the best OS available at this time.
second of all, is hard to just name the best 7 things Windows 7 got down to us. there are lots and lots of feature that for sure improved the user experience since lets say Windows XP until today.
anyway, my best 7 things about Windows 7 are:
1. nicer animations, including the windows start-up and and windows minimize/maximize
2. Aero Shake, that lets me concentrate only on my main open window
3. Aero Snap. well I can say I use it every day since I usually like to send documents from hard drive to USB hard drive, and this feature lets me focus only on my two explorer locations.
4. the show desktop location is also uber cool in my point since lets you see the desktop in just a snap
5. well lets not forget the themes. shiny and cool and yeah, customizable
6. I like to use of power management also, especially the hybrid sleep mode that speeds up system start-up and allowing me to fast resume my work
7. last but not least, is the Windows XP mode that makes things so much easy when comes to software incompatibility.
well these are just a few things I like about Windows 7 and I'm sure you guys also love them :)
First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY WINDOWS 7!!!!!
1. Superbar - Awesome taskbar transformation!!!! I can pin almost anything, and jumplists make work way easier.
2. Aero Snap - It is a great feature for arranging windows. No wastage of time manually resizing my windows.
3. WMP12 and better media integration - I've always disliked windows for not natively supporting various audio and video formats but WMP12 and Windows 7 were like Microsoft heard my inner voice!!!
4. DX11 - Awesome new feature called "Tessellation". New DX11 capable games feature awesome and more realistic graphics.
5. Better Advanced tools - Tools like Action Center, Reliability Monitor, Performance Information and Advanced Tools, and better & improved administrative tools help me diagnose various problems at ease.
6. It ran all the programs I threw at it till the date, worked on almost all the different hardware as I require changing various components often enough and still maintains its rocket fast response in every sector! Its just AWESOME!!
7. The new boot animation is cool. Introduction of theme packs is great. Homegroup makes home networking very easy. Full backwards compatibility.
my favorite thing about Windows 7 compared with previous Windows is:
1.from the features of the display, with new themes. Windows 7 is brighter and sharper and clearer icons
2.from speed, Windows 7 is faster than the previous windows (XP & Vista)
3.from compatibility, Windows 7 is work fine on old hardware and old software, and almost did not appear BSOD.
4.multitasking, Windows 7 is better. almost never experienced the error. and System Not Responding almost nothing. different from previous Windows (XP) Not Responding always appear when the Windows system is too busy.
5.Windows 7 memiliki penanganan error yang sangat bagus.
6.for connectivity. Browsing, downloading etc. windows 7 faster than the previous windows.
7.windows 7 is more stable than previous Windows.
and much more....
I use the following hardware:
-Intel Pentium 4 with 2.8 GHz
-WD 40 GB of hard drive
-2 GB of RAM
-VGA ATI Radeon 256 128 bits
Hardware is relatively very OLD for the class of 2010, but can work well with windows 7.
congratulations to Microsoft dan Windows Team!!
Seeing as how there are so many good things about Windows 7, narrowing down to just 7 is hard but I'll do my best.
7. The Aero theme: How can anyone not love this?
6. Calculator: I have to say that this is one of the things that I noticed being a real improvement, very helpful.
5. Aero Snap: Very useful feature, don't know how I lived without it.
4. The Taskbar: The taskbar in windows 7 is awesome, being able to pin your favourite or often used programs, very useful.
3. Notification Area: This is another one of the things I love about this OS, in previous versions some icons were just stuck out of view (you had to click a button or arrow to reveal them), with Windows 7 you can put all of the icons you want in plain sight and hide the ones you don't want to see.
2. Libraries: The Libraries feature is just so damn useful, if you visit a folder often you can just make a library to point to that folder and you've saved yourself a lot of time.
1. Search: This is just the most awesome thing for lazy people or people that don't know where everything is, just type in a term and bing comes back what you're looking for.
But really, as I said it's hard to just name 7, I really love how much less ram Windows 7 uses over Vista, people complained and Microsoft listened. The overall performance of Windows 7 is also so much better and in quite a few areas faster than XP also.
The first 7 things I felt in love with when I first used Windows 7:
1) Aero and all its functionalities (snap, peek, etc.)
2) The new taksbar
3) The new slideshows
4) Usability (it's fast and it lasts!)
5) The new start menu and the fact that I don't need to click more than once or twice to get what I want. I just type
6) Reliable sleep mode
7) It just works and works well!
1. Speed. It boots up really fast and wakes up from standby in a couple of seconds.
2. I've seen no blue screens so far and no deadlocks, my computer has never frozen since running Windows 7 on it.
3. Aero Thumbnail preview in the taskbar. I often have 8-9, or even 15 windows open simultaneously. This feature gives me a helping hand when I'm lost within my stuff.
4. Good compatibility with most (older) programs. I am able to run older games, my favorite Need for Speed and older strategy games for example, even if my video card supports only DirectX 9.0c they still run smoothly.
5. Driver compatibility. Even if some of my hardware is not certified for Windows 7, I still can use them by installing the Vista drivers. Many of my hardware was recognized and working out-of-box, without the need to install all my drivers (as in XP). Even my Canon printer was recognized as I connected it to my laptop, without the driver CD of course :).
6. The improved search in the Start menu. The indexing is really good, and I can look up and open everything I need in a fraction of a second. There is no need to navigate in the control panel or my documents anymore.
7. The user experience. It is really comfortable, it looks awesome (nice themes can be downloaded for free), it's safe (thanks to UAC and Windows Firewall), it's simply the BEST!!!
Congrats on the best system OS out there. Strangly, I remember when windows 95 released as if it was yesterday.
1. The interchangable themes and the ease to change them and get new ones. I love the various different themes available and it can change the PC "feel" instantly.
2. The windows snap function and being able to put windows side by side.
3. The speed of Windows 7.
4. I love the capability of being able to play media remotely
5. Absolutely LOVE the new IE9 beta and how its experience feels naturally a part of Windows 7.
6. Just generally enjoy how my media player (Zune 80), the Zune Software and Windows 7 all work together.
7. Its been the most reliable version of windows I have experienced.
Congratulations! Keep up the great work, enjoying Windows 7, Windows Live Essentials 2011 and Windows Internet Explorer 9. :)
My 7 favorites are a bit like the three most important things in realty
1.Updated task bar
2.Updated task bar
3.Updated task bar
4.Updated task bar
5.Updated task bar
6.Updated task bar
7.Updated task bar
7 Things i love about Windows 7!
1. Windows XP Mode - Let me run legacy applications i need (especially Microsoft Visual Basic 6, haha)
2. Aero Peek - Quickly shows my gadgets
3. Sleek Windows Task bar re-design and new functionality - Icons only on my task bards provides me more space on task bar. not to mention the easy re arrangement of my icons.
4. Windows 7 Themes - keeps me on my mood whenever i need to focus or be entertained.
5. Projector Shortcut (Windows Symbol + P) - very useful during presentation. Quickly controls whenever i need to disconnect to projector for a few seconds! aha
6. Libraries - Oh well, some common file groups just need to be sometimes in different folder. Libraries let me keep it in one place!
7. Windows Media Player 12 - a very much improved support to different video codecs. smoothly plays videos. keeps me away from Winamp
Favorite 7 things:
1.) It works out of the box. On everything. I've installed this on 5 year old PC's, brand new PCs, old laptops, new laptops, netbooks, and everything in between, and you know what? it just works. Very well too.
2.) The new task bar. I HATE going back to Vista, or worse, Windows XP. Thank goodness I run the IT department here. Windows 7 roll out has already started, and all of IT is already on it. Saves us a lot of time managing the systems. Aero Peak for the win!
3.) Bitlocker-to-go. Never have to worry about someone misplacing a USB key with corporate data on it again. Phew. Oh and the fact I get to control it via Group Policy. Easy protection for disks no matter where they are or where they go!
4.) Hyper-V/Virtual PC. Good golly, I have 24 GB of ram in this system and a Xeon 6 core processor. What's better than running Windows 7? Being able to run Windows XP for all that migration testing on the same computer, at the same time!
5.) Aero Shake/Snap. I never realized how good these were till I used them, and went to a Windows XP system. I was a bit lost. Snap makes it... well a snap, to put my windows side by side when doing line comparisons. Shake is great too to get those Windows just the way I want them. Its a little thing, but a fine little thing that makes an instant difference.
6.) Search. Anything, anywhere, anytime. Seriously. Especially in a domain environment, Search that is this integrated, and this deep is something I simply cannot live without. Need to find that data on the new project regardless of it being in email, file storage or the Sharepoint server? Search. Find. Use. NICE!
7.) Its FAST. I mean like really fast. Installed Windows 7 on my SSD drive. From power on to desktop? 15 seconds. Seriously. Thats awesome. Windows XP in the same configuration? almost TWO MINUTES. Everything just speeds along and the computer seems to like it that way.
So thats it, my top 7. They may not be yours, but they sure are mine.
best thing in win 7 is performance
these are best features:
1- booting time is soo excelent.
2- simple, clean and most perfect ui
3- less resouce usage.
4- Windows Taskbar feature is perfect
5- Aero Shake
and the last one is world best user friendly Operating System.
1- The new WDDM 1.1 driver which improves gaming capabilities and aero abilities
2-Action Center which helps me fix errors and repair and backup windows files and sitting in addition to creating a rescue disk and best of all the antivirus and antispyware monitoring
3-The new themes and how i can install a theme by a double click only .... and how i can customize my themes so easily
4-The new taskbar which allows me to move icons the way I want and arrange it the way I like and how I can have the old taskbar buttons or the new beautiful Windows 7 buttons
5-The improved performance which surpassed its predecessor Windows Vista ... Where my windows 7 64Bit uses less RAM than my Windows Vista 32Bit !!
6-The new WMP 12 which is more beautiful than WMP 11 and 10
7-The improved compatibility options which allows me to run old win xp software on my new Windows 7
And these are some of what I like about Windows 7 . It really is the best Windows you made Microsoft .
What a pity that even a year after launch, unlike Vista,Windows 7 still hasn't got online print service providers for non-US markets such as the UK and the Netherlands. Amidst all the rah-rah, spare a thought for the features that failed to materialise.
The best S.O. of the ten years and the next generation for innovation, future and experience by user.
1) share folder across internet using windows live ID
2) home group
3) windows media center
4) auto install/upgrade of drivers upon detecting hardware.
5) iis 7
6) uPnP
7) relatively quick boot
1)Aero snap-SIngle best thing for reading more than one windows.
2)Aero peek-Makes it easy to see what you have open without opening it

3. Windows Live Essentials
4. Dual-Boot System support
5. Touch screen options
6. Hand writing recognition
7. Faster Boot Times
Thats why I love Windows 7...
Congrats to Team Windows and thanks for bringing such a Wonderful OS out. I have been using Windows 7 since Pre Beta... the version that came out at PDC 2008. My favorite features of Windows 7 are:
1. JumpLists: The feature that revolutionized the way I can access recent documents. This is such a powerful and impressive feature that all apps and even websites too are being optimized to make use of Jumplists in Windows 7.
2. Desktop Themes: Great relief using themes. No need to use automatic wallpaper changer and patch up with system files to get a theme working. Just double click the theme pack and it is done. Made life so easy. And icing on the cake is regular theme updates provide by Microsoft that makes sure your desktop never looks dull.
3. Windows XP Mode - This feature has been helpful in many a cases when I was running some obsolete software’s which were made cotemporary with help of XP Mode. A Few ETS Test software’s were the one which required only XP and the things worked out like charm using Windows 7.
4. Aero Snap & Aero Peek with thumbnail previews from the taskbar. I can preview and close any application from Aero View.
5. SuperBar: With SuperBar I have an option to pin folders & programs. And it gets more interesting, as I can access certain program features and recently accessed documents by right clicking on the icon on the SuperBar which populates Jumplists. Sure, I am not missing Good Old Quick Launch feature.
6. Library: I can add folders to a Library and access the files from within that Library without having to navigate out of the Library, instead of create shortcuts for media files scattered around partitions and hard disk to one parent folder.
7. Parental Controls: I was very much annoyed when my brother used to do hours of gaming on Computer. But with parental controls I was not just able to restrict a few set off applications but also can restrict the account to work in specific timings only. It’s a Win-Win situation here with Window 7.
Apart from these features what Windows 7 gave me was peace of Mind. Haven’t formatted my PC in last 11 Months, Only a single Blue Screen of Death in last 18 months ( not even in Beta), complete Security using MSE integration, picking up auto-drivers for most hardware and the list goes on.
I was so impressed by Windows 7; I released a copy of an Ebook on Windows 7 http://bit.ly/6ePtXS covering how-to, features, tutorials, and tips on Windows 7. And till date it has got over 75K downloads.
1 - Stability :
I have used it since the beginning of the year and so far , there have been no problem
2 - Speed :
Very comfortable ... I never imagined that
3 - Beautiful shape
I think it's the most important reasons for success
4 - Backward compatibility :
The best ... not like vista and xp
5 - Network
Finally, the comfort from networks troubles
6- Taskbar
I love it .. especially ( pin to taskbar )
7 - Touch support
Of the most important things ((((Simulation the future))))
My 7 favorite items of 7 (in no order):
1. Instant search. Somthing so simple that makes such a profound impact. Easily the #1 feature!
2. Removing mail and related items from the OS. This sounds like an odd "feature" but it allows freedom of choice and allows for quicker development of Live Essentials.
3. XP Mode/Virtualization. If i don't want to junk up my Win 7 with a "scary" website or app, I do this in the virtual instance. If this gets hosed, who cares? just delete the VM and start over.
4. Gadgets without the sidebar. Who needs the artifical limitation of the sidebar. I wish there were more high quality gadgets though. Perhaps Windows needs a marketplace now (instead of waiting on Win 8).
5. Aero in general. From aero glass, to aero snap and aero shake. I don't really understand aero peek though. What's the point?
6. Live icon on the taskbar are cool too. I also like having prgram control in these icons like in WMP.
7. Themes with auto rotating wallpapers. Having an RSS feed wallpaper is a good idea.
I posted my 7 favortie items below, now here are 7 items that needs fixed:
1. Remember my settings on multiple monitors. When I undock and just use the laptop screen all the windows/icons collapse to the one screen (that's good). When I re-dock, I need to rearrange again on my multiple screens (that's bad).
2. I don't like the show desktop icon waaaaay to right. It's actually in the worst place possible. Why not put it next to the start orb where my mouse actually spends most of its time. My mouse is rarely over by the sys tray so I don't want a commonly used feature over there.
3. I like the task bar's use, but I think it is ugly. The big square bar with the round orb just isn't pleasing.
4. Why can't I change my lock screen?
5. Where is the windows Marketplace?
6. Virtualization in Win 7 is cool, so where is the Windows Phone 7 virtualization. I would love to be able to run WP7 apps within windows.
7. BETTER TOUCH SUPPORT. I really like the hand writing recognition in Win7, but it is not touch friendly at all. I don't like using the pen for everything.
1. The new task bar makes it less confusing for me
2.XP Mode is the feature that made me check out Win7
3. Seeing the thumbnails ro open and close programs is nice
4.With the thousands of MP3 I have Remote Media Streaming will be a added bonus
5. The Superbar helps organize all of my Photo Programs
6. Media Player 12, I'm always awaiting any new Media Players. I Love them over any player!
7. It's Windows! What more can I say. I'd NEVER switch to any other platform. As soon as my know-it-all brother-in-law switched to Apple because he heard this and that, none of his programs worked, which he didn't think about and most that he liked aren't available for apple. WINDOWS RULES!
7 Favorites:
1. WMP 12, feels and looks good. Especially when turn in to small window
2. Themes are so good on eyes and so easy to download and install new themes
3. Aero Peek and Aero Shake very innovative. If I have touchscreen LCD I would like the Windows Touch feature
4. UAC and new Task Manager, good for security.
5. Snipping Tool. Capture my Windows screen display
6. New taskbar, simple and clear
7. I also like the troubleshooting, helpful for novice user like me
1. Aero thumbnails. Closing and checking windows are super easy.
2. Aero snap. Makes working with windows really fast and easy.
3. Aeropeek/button. Sometimes it's easier to click a button than hit win+d.
4. Ability to pin and move items on the taskbar. I can easily keep all my windows organized
5. Jump lists. Has come in handy man times when I accidentally closed something.
6. Win+P. Can put something on the projector in no time.
7. XP Mode. Old software never seems to die.
7 things that I like so much!
1. a lot of theme and gadget and ready to download at any time,,, it's so awesome
2. very user friendly, even very newbie like me understand to install windows.. so great
3. aero desktop performance, bring my daily work with windows 7 is even more beautiful
4. responsive and more fast than vista....
5. Windows virtual PC, run Winxp on my win7, how can it be?????
6. the redesigned of start menu, make using PC running windows 7 is easy and very simple
7. troubleshooting is simple. Just select the problem you are facing, and let the Windows 7 fix them
that's all what i like from windows 7....
The most important benefits of Windows 7 are:
1. Support for multi-core CPUs, parallel computing and DirectX 11.
2. Revamped base accessories/tools: Explorer, Notepad, Calculator, Paint, Restore and BackUp Systems, Defragmentator, Windows Media Player 12, Windows Update.
3. General Idea of "Microsoft Desktop(s)" (especially windows placement and control and Taskbar control features)
4. General Stability, Reliability, User Friendly Interface and Overall Performance.
5. All Network and Communications Features.
Here are my 7 favorite Windows 7 features in no particular order since it’s story driven:
1. 64-bit Support – I have a beastly laptop with quad-core processors and 8gig of RAM. Windows 7 64-bit support makes this possible and I love it! It allows me to write 64-bit apps and handle those HD videos more easily. With all this power I tend to just start apps, work with it and move on to the next thing without closing them. I don’t think about them until I have to and when I do, I use Resource Monitor.
2. Resource Monitor – With Resource Monitor, I can quickly see how the various sub-systems such as CPU, Memory, Disk and Network are doing. If there are blips in responsiveness, I can Analyze Wait Chain and review other metrics it gathers and address it. It is a super useful tool.
3. Jump List – I open lots of apps. When I start these applications, I don’t usually left-click the icon on the Taskbar like in the past. I right-click to get the Jump List of common actions, frequently used and pinned items. Wow! 95% of the time, what I need is already there. The other 5% is because not all applications support Jump List fully…yet.
4. Aero Snap! – Running many applications can mean many windows. Before Aero Snap, I would spend a lot of time resizing and “organizing” them but not anymore. Now, I snap to the left anything of I reference (view) and snap to the right everything I interact with (edit). It’s so quick and easy; It’s a snap! The Win + (arrow key) shortcut is really fantastic. As a bonus, Windows 7 even remembers the window’s original size and location when I un-snap it.
5. Live Taskbar Preview– So I have my windows snapped to the left and right but how do I find them when they’re all stacked on top of each other? Windows 7 offers many great options to do this such as Alt + Tab and Win + Tab but I prefer the Live Taskbar Preview. Instead of sifting through all the windows sequentially, I hover over the app window I’m looking for (like a filter by app) and see a preview of what I want. I hover over the preview itself and I get the actual window with all the other windows in transparent, outline form. Nice! Because the preview feature is “Live”, it reflects the application’s visual state and progress, I can also quickly check on the status of a video encoding or a video file upload by just previewing it.
6. Windows Live Writer – Besides writing software and creating HD videos (with Movie Maker), I also blog so I can share the fruits of my labor (Ha ha!). I blog and the best Blogging Client out there is Windows Live Writer 2011. It’s a part of the Windows Live Essentials package which is amazing but I am particularly fond of Writer. It makes writing blogs so easy, both on and offline.
7. Windows 7 Themes – And what’s all this worth if it’s not a beautiful place to be? Windows 7 Themes is brilliant and allowing dynamic image feeds like Bing Dynamic is over the top!

1. Search
2. Aero
3. Snap
4. Taskbar previews
5. Pin to the taskbar
6. Media Center Features
7. Jump Lists
1. Taskbar pinning, combined with IE9, creates a shortcut using the pinned site's favicon. It's great for things like Office Web Apps and makes the cloud a bit more seamless.
2. Windows Media Center makes excellent use of Windows 7 libraries (photos, music, and videos). For people with TV tuners, the jump list option to go straight to the TV guide is extremely convenient.
3. WordPad in Windows 7 is actually useful, either while you're still setting up and haven't gotten around to installing Microsoft Office yet or if you want a quick, lightweight application to skim a document without loading Office. I also use it as my default *.odt file editor now instead of OpenOffice.
4. The Windows 7 taskbar lets you right-click the icon, and then right-click the application name to give you the same options that the shortcut buried somewhere in the start menu would have - allowing you to choose "Run as Administrator" from the taskbar. This is especially helpful for people who have the command prompt pinned, or other applications that don't always need to be run as admin but sometimes might. The only way this could be better is if taskbar items had "Run as Administrator" right off their top context menu.
5. There's an API for adding media controls (pause/play, rewind, etc.) to Aero Peek. Media Player and Zune aren't the only applications to use it, either. This lets me have a uniform experience in Windows 7 even with non-Microsoft applications.
6. Speaking of APIs, the updated Ribbon looks like a part of Aero now and the context menus have the same feel as the rest of Windows 7. It looks like a more efficient use of space and users are more likely to set up their optimal Quick Access toolbar.
7. Automatic saving of themes. Sometimes I try something out, don't have it quite where I'm comfortable switching to that color scheme yet, and I revert to what I had. Later if I want to keep working at it, it's been backed up and I can pick up where I left off. I don't have to worry about where I've saved my custom themes, either.
Windows 7 won me back. I'm not sure there's anything else I need to say. :-)
Congratulation to Windows 7! I personally love Windows 7 because of these (primarily):
1. Aero Peek/Thumbnail - Make my life easier to get a glance through my opened applications without having to actually clicking on each items on my Taskbar to see them.
2. Support for DivX/Xvid/H.264 - Never myself a need to install 3rd party codec pack which may compromise my system stability.
3. Drivers update through Windows Update - Now, whenever I have any hardwares or peripherals without drivers, all I need to do is connect them to my (Internet connected) Windows 7 PC and Windows Update done the rest. Save my times and increased my productivity as I never had to search for them manually.
4. Extended BitLocker functionality - Now I can use BitLocker not only on my hard disk, but also on my removable drives to ensure my data stay safe, whenever I go.
5. Jumplist - Now with applications that supported Jumplist, I can just click on specific Jumplist item to do my task. Even the new IE9 Beta supported this feature and it's a timesaver!
6. UAC/Sandbox - Tweaked UAC doesn't annoys me anymore but still offers great protections the same way Windows Vista did and sandbox protect my computers against drive-by downloads and other malicious softwares I came across the Internet.
7. Parental control - Now I can put my mind to ease as I know I can control my kid usage of the PC.
8. VHD boot - Last but not least, I love the ability to natively boot VHD files and take advantages of all hardwares capabilities of my computers and as an IT Pro, this really boost my productivity level.
Overall, Windows 7 is the greatest release from Microsoft and I feel sad for those still clinging to the old and outdated Windows XP. Come on peeps! Upgrade now and enjoy these new and improved features!
Congrats!! windows 7 happy birthday
the things i like most about windows 7 is
1. so much organize with its libraries
2. windows media center plays almost all movie format

1. Aero Peek with more detailed thumbnail previews. Ones in which I can even close the application without having to maximize it.
2. Windows XP mode – I have to deal with lot of legacy softwares which are not upgraded for Windows 7. The Windown virtualization tool to run Windwos XP is really helpful to me when I have to deal with these legacy softwares.
4. UAC controlls. They help me choose the level of security I need for me, and my clients.
5.Libraries: I have lots of files in lots of places on my laptop and PC, so Libraries have become very useful in pulling everything into one area.
6. Network and homegroup mangment has made sharing printers and files so natural and simple
7.Faster GDI render time. It is much snappier in 7, and provides a nicer experience.

1.windows media player

Those are just SOME of the most wonderful features of Windows 7 that I've come to love
10 Awesome Windows 7 features:
1. It has blazing fast boot up time compared to other OS.
2. New location of 'Show Desktop' at the bottom right corner. I can simply flick my mouse to the bottom right and instantly my desktop will be shown.
3. Fast and easy installation. It takes not more than 15mins and less questions are asked. It simplifies things for home users who can be noobs at installation.
4. Desktop gadgets. Able to download customized desktop gadgets such as CPU/Network activity for monitoring purposes.
5. Users dont need administrator role. This security feature is kind of a clone of the linux OS where administrator role is only required during installation and a password will be prompted. This prevents unauthorized modification to crucial system files.
6. Search feature. Imagine the control panel consist of so many settings that can be changed. Using the search feature, i am able to search for what i am looking for like 'hibernate' and power option will be displayed.
7. Windows update. No need to launch IE for downloading windows updates.
8. Windows firewall. Able to activate customizable firewall on selected ethernet adapters. Good feature for me as i have 2 ethernet adapters. One is for local lan and one is for internet. I only need firewall activated for the internet adapter.
9. More information such as number of files left/size left are shown when copying/moving physical files from folders to folders. Very informative when transferring huge files.
10. Shutdown button. Less mouse clicks required to shutdown the system and customizable.

Well only if you didn't remove features I would have been happier (en.wikipedia.org/.../List_of_features_removed_in_Windows_7). Hopefully SP1 will fix some of the most annoying issues like inability to disable auto sort and auto arrange. Windows Live Wave 4 and IE9 also continue to "simplify" assuming everyone wants functionality stripped off. Not happy about this Microsoft. One size fits all approach isn't right. You need to preserve customizability for power users.
I really love it! It is so fantastic that I recommended it to my friends after my first trial of Win7. I found it is superior to Vista and XP in many aspects. Firstly, it works more efficiently and steadily. Secondly, it has a fascinating interface that I feel so good. Thirdly, it is easy to access and manage my documents and folders. Finally, it is safer than previous version. To sum up, it is my most favorite operation system.

2.Aero Peek
6.AeroShake。
In addition, there are also a number of font management improvements in Windows 7 worth mentioning.
13.MinWin。
18. Windows 7 的Home Groups。

1. Aero Snap - As a student, I use this feature all the time to place documents side-by-side.
2. Aero Peak - It is great being able to see all of my gadgets by just barely moving my mouse.
3. Taskbar - Probably the most improved thing about Windows 7. Very intuitive.
4. Homegroups - Makes it so much easier to share files throughout my house
5. Libraries - With all the folders that I place files/documents into, it's so nice seeing them all with a single click.
6. Themes - I love changing the look of my desktop all the time.
7. Simplified networking interface - So much easier to manage wireless networks.
Thanks for a great product, Microsoft!

Why are everyone writing the same new features as if based on a template? Anyways, here are my lesser known rare 7 things that make Windows 7 an unequivocally step ahead from Windows XP and Windows Vista:
1. Improved disk management: TRIM support for SSD takes the pain out of doing manual maintenance for your SSD. Sector 0 alignment and top SATA implementation offers the very highest performance. Disk resizing and VHD features are so useful.
2. H.264 in Media Center! How cool is that!
3. Discovery of other computers on the network is very reliable and a huge step up from the NetBIOS over TCP/IP discovery in XP. So networking Windows machines is now really effortless.
4. Built-in audio processing effects like Bass Boost, Loudness Equalization really make ordinary audio hardware shine.
5. Jump lists are genuinely useful, especially the Recent and Pinned documents features which make setting up your workspace after a reboot very quick.
6. The P2P based "Easy Connect" feature in Remote Assistance works wonderfully behind firewalls and NATting routers so assisting people remotely is now reliable.
7. The Math Input Panel is seriously cool. Inputting math was difficult earlier.
I'm a Chinese user of Win7.
The most attractive thing in Win7 is Aero Snap. It is very easy to use when I open several documents.
And I love taskbar previews. It is perfect!
BTW, WMP12 & Media Center are beautiful~~
