Xbox has officially announced Xbox Music tonight which begins rolling out to Xbox consoles on October 16th. Starting on October 26th, Xbox Music will deliver free streaming music on Windows 8 and Windows RT PCs and tablets in 15 markets worldwide!
Xbox Music has a music catalog on par with iTunes and will give you access to millions of songs and albums that you can subscribe to or purchase through the Xbox Music Store. Buy an Xbox Music Pass for just $9.99 (U.S.) per month and you can get access to ad-free, unlimited playback of any song in our catalog. Your music experience will be effortlessly integrated across Windows 8 and Windows RT PCs and tablets, Windows Phone 8 and your TV with the Xbox 360. Xbox Music is cloud-powered: if you have an Xbox Music Pass you can create the perfect playlist on your Windows 8 or Windows RT PC or tablet and then see it automatically appear on your TV with your Xbox 360 or on your phone with Windows Phone 8.
For more information on Xbox Music, visit Xbox.com/music or check out this press release with all the details. I also recommend reading this article from Microsoft News Center!

Windows 8 is coming! Check out our teaser ad that aired this weekend.
I hope that the SmartDJ function moves out of USA (I'm in Australia with a Music Pass) onto Windows 8/RT as it is on the XBox.. but as is missing on Zune software and WP7
What about WP 7.x? Don't forget us Microsoft :'(
Two questions:
1) Will it be available in India?
2) Will it be available for Windows Phone 7.x?
What about Xbox Videos? Will we ever see Videos Pass subscription so we can do unlimited video streaming?
Your abandonment of early adopters is saddening. As a Day 0 WP7 and WP7.5 user, I have finally been duped enough times. I will not be upgrading to WP8 until I see a dedication to customers and evidence that all existing users won't be alienated in WP9.
Will there be some way to share the subscription with immediate family members (i.e. spouse) or will there be a family subscription option?
Definitely needs a family pass!
@humdinger - Please don't jump to conclusions. I have WP7.5 and I've been using Xbox Music via the Xbox Fall Dashboard Update Beta and Windows 8, and it's compatible with WP7.5. The streaming and download services are the same thing as Zune Music!
I already posted a lengthier comment on the other Xbox Music post on this site, but I think the true user feedback is reflected in the comments on The Verge. Many of these comments are really valid:

Boy am I disappointed my latest Microsoft software and hardware, as of yesterday, aren't going to support what's coming out today. It's not like I was running Windows Mobile on Windows XP!
Sincerely,
Windows Phone 7 user running Windows 7
Curiously enough all the articles talk about the number of markets where XBox Music will launch but not a single one of them mentions exactlly which countries will be supported and which won't. Can anyone enlighten me in that regard?
How do I post on the blog of windows?
Thank you.

This is great, but will work also in Windows 7?Because few files from my website http://www.frivgames4u.net is not working. I hope to solve that.
