finally... hope the GFWL brand dies with windows 8 (or sooner)... zune needs to go to (get absorbed into Xbox)
Worldwide support, guys... worldwide support. The whole XBOX stuff is useless around here right now. PC gamers are better off buying from GamersGate, GOG, Steam, and similar distributors.
@angel k not sure where "here" is but gfwl is useless everywhere. Steam is the only true PC "platform" that i see. Most GFW games don't have achievements or any well implemented support of leaderboards, party chat, messaging etc. The way I see it is MS has a chance with Windows 8 to do a couple of things. One is rebrand PC gaming to Xbox. This will pull in a more casual crowd. This means that MS needs to focus on bringing (paying devs if neccessary) the top XBLA games over to the PC (hopefully getting some boy once play anywhere type of system going on at the same time). They also need to use Xbox as a brand for free Web based casual games... possibly work through Facebook to help facilitate this move. Windows Phone 7 touch games can also be utilized on Win8 tablets. Finally Kinect games can be exclusive to Xbox PC further pulling on the casual crowd. Now the only thing that MS can really do for the hardcore gamer is bring 1st party games to the PC the same day that they launch on console. This means Halo 4, Future Gears of War, Forza, Fable all of them need to launch the same date. Not years after people stopped caring about them. Again there is an opportunity for buy once play anywhere with these types of games or at the very least their DLC. Personally I would like to see some PCs ship with built in RF receivers so that wireless Xbox controllers can work with them out of the box... (but that is kind of a pipe dream). The other pipe dream is MS launching some type of certification program under some type of title like "Xbox 360 Inside" Any PC sold with that logo is capable of running Xbox games and has built in RF receivers and things of that nature... anyways hope to learn more about the future of Xbox on the PC at BUILD
@cmwind Steam is definitely NOT the true PC "platform". Having the chance of buying from developers themselves is what makes the PC the best gaming platform. ;)
