UPDATE 10/26: After reviewing an early version of Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show, it became clear that the content was not a good fit for the Windows brand. So we are no longer sponsoring the show. However, we continue to have a good partnership with FOX including both Seth MacFarlane and Alex Borstein, and are working with them in other areas. We are still working together with FOX in other areas including reaching out to college students on campuses across the U.S.

Yesterday, we announced a marketing collaboration with FOX that will showcase Windows 7 launching October 22nd.

Windows 7 will be the exclusive sponsor of an upcoming TV show from Seth MacFarlane called Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show (working title) which will air Sunday November 8th at 8:30 p.m. (EST and PST). Seth is the creator of “Family Guy,” “American Dad” and “The Cleveland Show.” It with star both Seth and his “Family Guy” co-star Alex Borestein (she does the voice of “Lois” among many other characters in case you were wondering). The show will air “commercial-free” instead featuring unique Windows 7-branded programming that blends seamlessly into the show. Seth and Alex teamed up with us here at Microsoft, Universal McCann and Crispin, Porter + Bogusky to come up with Windows 7 branded integrations within the show.

To celebrate this awesome collaboration with FOX, the Windows Outreach Team will be doing a giveaway as part of their ongoing #WinWin7 Contest on Twitter for exclusive tickets to see the taping of Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show in Los Angeles this Friday starting at 3:30pm.

Watch the tweets from @MSWindows this afternoon to find out how to win. For #winwin7 contest rules, click here.

As a huge Family Guy fan, I’m stoked to see this collaboration air on TV on November 8th. And to those who win tickets to watch the taping, I will be jealous.

Side tidbit – to fellow Star Trek fans out there: Did you know Seth McFarlane did a small stint on Star Trek: Enterprise?

On top of sponsoring Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show, we are also working together with FOX to reach out to more than 4.3 million college students on campuses across the United States. The 12 week tour will give students a chance to try Windows 7 as well as enjoy customized entertainment created by FOX Licensing and Merchandising such as customized “Family Guy” content. That’s rad ;-)

  • Oh and limited Free tickets to Ashley Tisdale or Justin Bieber at the different stores on opening.

  • Oh and Im guessing these stores wont compete on price, so as not to alienate the normal retail channels (BestBuy etc).

But it would be nice for a decent return policy at these stores say 45days vs the regular 14days we see nowadays.

Most people rarely return purchases, but occasionally they might if they bought something wrong by error, say purchasing Windows 7 Home Premium, only to realise once they got home they actually needed Windows 7 Professional.

These stores should be great if they focus on the consumer and pampering them to a certain extent.   I hope they have their intended effect.

  • Microsoft to open first retail store in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Thursday.  According to:

I want a store closer to me, Im just being greedy though, wrong coast for me.  Good choice though for a west coast location though, Arizona has always had a good shortage of good electronic stores so the model can be refined nicely in Scottsdale before more stores are rolled out.

  • Yeah looks like Office Depot is selling the Family pack, not sure if its online or instore?

  • Hey I didn't realize the Family Pack of Windows 7 would be available in store, if so thats great..

    per Office Depots latest ad

  • Love the Family Guy, unfortunately I don't watch it as much as I'ld like as my wife stops me watching things that are inappropriate around our young kids.  If they watched to much they might start behaving like Stewie, sometimes I think hey its just a cartoon, what the harm in letting the kids watch..then Stewie breaks up with his girlfriend Olivia and sets the playhouse on fire!

Yeah the Family Guy is a great show, so this cross promotion is a great idea.

I heard they're coming here to UCLA on the 20th, so very excited about that. Big 'Family Guy' fan too, so this is just extra awesome.
