VIDEO: First impressions of the amazing new Samsung 900x

Just a few days ago I got my hands on one of the first sold-at-retail Samsung 900x PCs.  This is the incredibly thin, bafflingly light, surprisingly fast PC that Samsung unveiled at CES 2011, and the same one I covered in my “Live at CES” video series.  Inside the 2.8lb, less-than-.66” thin Duralumin (i.e.: aircraft-grade aluminum) case is an Intel Core i5 “Sandybridge” processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of SSD storage, which those of you who saw last month’s “Ben and Ryan Explain” video know is a huge boon to performance.

Since this is one of the hottest, most talked about PCs in a long time, I wanted to get you my first impressions ASAP.  Check out the video for an overview of the 900x:

One other item of note that I didn’t cover in the video is battery life, which is excellent.  I consistently get 5+ hours of juice out of a single charge, and can stretch it to over 6 if I tinker with the settings.

Short version:  Fast, light, and beautiful, the Samsung 900x is one of the finest PCs I’ve ever used.  If you’re in the market for a premium PC, put the Samsung 900x at the top of your list.

Next time you're shooting in your office, turn off the monitors in the background. They threw off the exposure so much that I can barely see the black Samsung. Thanks!

  • AWESOME to finally see more PC manufacturers step up to the plate and design something that isn't just beautiful, but has a lot of horsepower AND lasts for more thn 5 hours on a single charge. I've been enjoying my 3lb, Core i5 8GB, 256GB-SSD Sony Vaio Z Series for the last 6 months or so, and encourage anyone and everyone to consider spendng just a little more on one of these new generation of laptops for their next purchase - you won't regret doing so!

  • That is so sleek and sweet looking! I love your video's but must confess to having hardware envy here, you get your hands on the best stuffs!

  • This is a real modern design product. Nice :)
