If you are in the market for a new PC for the family, look no further than the HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart. This All-in-One will not only be the new entertainment hub in your house, but it will also be just the tool that your elementary, middle, and high school students need to knock this school year out of the park.

In a house with kids, space is at a premium, especially desk and counter space. I know at my house, tables get filled with books, bills, little trinkets from past trips, so sometimes finding space for a new PC can be a bit difficult. The HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart has a sleek and space saving design that will allow you to maximize screen size, minimize the amount of space your PC takes up.

This HP packs a full HD touchscreen display, Beats AudioTM and is powered by Windows 8 (and it will be great for the new Windows 8.1 update coming October 18th) making it a top of the line entertainment station. Watch movies, listen to music, and play games to your heart’s content. This is a device that the entire family can love.

The Netflix app on Windows is a fantastic experience. It is very easy to find the show or movie that you want to watch or check out new selections. When I need some music to get me through the day, the Music app that is built in to Windows is what I turn to. The library is huge and I love the artist information that is available with song selections. And finally, my favorite game is Taptiles—warning it is highly addictive, and so much fun!

While games, movies and music are awesome, everybody knows that sometimes you have to get down to homework. The HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart has a big vibrant 23-inch touchscreen display ideal for working on two things at once. For example, with the upcoming release of Windows 8.1 you can be working on a paper in Word on half of the screen, and viewing a website in Internet Explorer on the other by snapping the two apps together. This helps get papers done faster, allowing for more time playing in the backyard or on the Xbox.

With Windows 8 there are also a lot of educational apps from the Windows Store. Be sure to check out Khan Academy—an educational app with over 3,800 tutorial videos covering everything from basic elementary addition, to chemistry, to GMAT test prep. Or Career Path, if you are trying to answer the ever challenging question “what do you want to be when you grow up?” this app can help you figure it out and connect you with people who are in that field to learn more.

Now, I know that purchasing a PC is a big deal, and it is important to make sure that it will let you do what you want to do. Rest assured that with the HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart you are well taken care of. First, it has a minimum of 4 GB of memory (all the way up to 16 GB, if that is what you desire), 1 TB of storage (P.S.—you can always get more storage with SkyDrive), and an AMD integrated graphics card for great video quality.

It also has a DVD drive, SD memory card slot, and 2 USB 3.0 ports. So you can watch all the DVDs you want, upload pictures straight from your camera, and plug in any peripheral devices that have a USB cable. I don’t know what more you could want!

The HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart is available for purchase today on HP’s website. Go check it out for yourself to learn more about how the HP ENVY 23 TouchSmart could be a great addition to your family.

Win8 is fine on touch or non touch systems, 8.1 is even better, just takes a bit of time to get use to, but once you do you will never want to go back to 7

  • if your new computer doesn't have a touch screen then stay away from win 8. just upgraded to 8.1 beta and it sucks the big one. going back to 7 as soon as possible.
