It has been just over 1 month since the Power Pack 3 BETA was made available to the public and we have seen great participation. We have received helpful user feedback and the work toward a final release in the end of October is looking good.

The video is posted here.

If you are still interested in trying out the Power Pack 3 BETA and becoming a participant, you can sign up on Microsoft Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer.

  • In the Video CJ mentions that you guys are working on the next version of WHS...  Will that be something that existing platforms (i.e. HP EX47x/EX48x) will be able to upgrade to or does MS see it more as the new version that would only ship on new boxes?

  • Foobarred, thanks for your interest in Windows Home Server. We are not able to speculate about future versions of Windows Home Server.  If you want to get more involved, I encourage you to join the Connect Program, connect.microsoft.com/windowshomeserver where you can test pre-release versions of software, submit bug reports and suggest ideas of how to make the product better.

I am as per the feedback survey hoping you release a final Beta/RC  version before shipping PP3 so that we can check that all our bugs have been resolved.

If some of those bugs on Connect that are still listed as active when you RTM PP3 it will be a killer for many users.

    Regression testing doesn't hurt:-

'Build it and they will come' = 'Release an updated Beta and they will test it'

    Cheers,

    Stephen

  • When does the Power Pack 3 Beta come in german language too?

  • Looks good - the increased integration with Media Center is much appreciated - I have been avoiding add-ins that help organize my Recorded TV folders (on client and server), with the hope that PP3 would include this - good to know it is coming.

  • PhilAlban, the feature to archive Recorded TV shows from Windows Media Center to your Windows Home Server in PP3 is an amazing feature. I use this heavily. It works great. I think you will be impressed.

  • I like the integration with MCE, which has always been the short side of WHS. Win 7 management functionality too is nice to see as well.

I'm not going to test the PP3 Beta, as I just rebuilt and formatted my OEM WHS with 1tb WD Green drives. So, I'll hold off until the public release in October.  Thanks for the hard work on WHS!

  • I have installed the Power pack 3 on the windows home server, after install and reboot the software edition still says power pack 2. i would like to know if this is correct or how to resolve this issue.

  • Kenneth161, please visit Microsoft's Connect (http://connect.microsoft.com/) and take a look at the release ducumentation for Power Pack 3.  Since you are using the Power Pack 3 BETA, your problem should be resloved with the release of Power Pack 3.
