Hi everyone. A quick addendum to yesterday’s post: We’ve just started delivering Windows Phone 7.5 updates to the the HTC HD7S on AT&T. If you have any questions about how to install or manually check for an update, please visit Update Central.
I also wanted to make sure you’re aware of the Windows Phone forum in Microsoft Answers, where we track and troubleshoot isolated or model-specific issues as they arise, and provide status updates as they become available. See you next week.
Eric Hautala, General Manager, Customer Experience Engineering
I got the update when Mango first came out...how is this different? Is this a firmware update? My compass won't work.
Again, fantastic job...your update process, while not perfect yet because of a few carriers and manufacturers, is very much heading in the right direction. And with the bumps in the road for iOS 5, plus the inconsistency of Android, and the reliablility of RIM, if you perfect this process you have a real chance of kicking some ass.
When are you going to increase the percentage of users who are receving the update? People have been wating for ages for this update, and not much news on your front.
@madjah - read past posts from Eric, he outlined this
@ mehsdomi.....Do you have a HD7S????
@dkb1898 All i know is that the push rate is 50%, but there has been no update on this, so the 10 business days or less is rubbish as it's been more than 10 business days for the update to roll out.
this is getting rediculous you keep coming out with new games and things that mango can do but you cant even get it out to the rest of us
They addressed this back on day 1 of the 7.5 Upgrade Process. Here's the quote:
"This week, we’ll be making the update available to 10 percent of customers. If everything looks good, we’ll open up the spigot a bit more—to around 25 percent. We’ll hold there for one or two weeks, then quickly ramp up to 100 percent—monitoring quality the entire way. That’s how we ensure Mango arrives both quickly and in tip-top shape."
10% in the first week, then 25% in the second week (and they actually overdelivered here by jumping straight to 50% in the second week. Then they say they'll hold it there for 1 or 2 weeks (it's getting close to 2 weeks, so I'd say next Tuesday or Wednesday the following may occur) and then ramp it up to 100% (well 98% because of Telefonica, Samsung Omnia 7 on Deutche Telekom, Samsung Focus 1.4 & Dell Venue Pro issues).
They've done a damm good job with the Mango rollout, well done Microsoft!
You heard me !!! Updating Now !! Thank you !!
@ everybody here – Have any of you had any problems with your Mango Xbox app updating your current points and achievements? After I updated to Mango, the new Xbox app still shows my previous points (points earned before updating to Mango). I have rebooted my phone but it doesn’t fix it. I hit refresh and it doesn’t update my points. At this point, I am not sure if I should uninstall the app (I am afraid it will screw it up worse) or wait. @ Michael Stroh, any idea?
@madjah - Again do the work, read! Andrew Tech Help laid it out for you what Eric had already laid out...
@BuckeyTico - No haven't had that problem...I have noticed battery life on my Focus seems to be down a bit, and the phone has crashed a lot more with Mango...usually when opening an App. Also it seems when I install a "Mango" app update, it doesn't always seem to update correctly and work correctly with fast app switching. Until I cold boot the phone! App updating seems to be a bit flaky
This update process is very frustrating. I don't see how this scales either when then next update comes out and there are double the number of phones.
Hey guys...I'm still waiting for Mango...it's now October 14th and us Focus rev1.4 owners still do NOT have Mango.
@ dkb1898 – Oh well, I am not sure why my Mango Xbox app is not updating my points and achievements accordingly. I just found out that this app cannot be uninstalled (a native app to the OS). On the other hand, I have noticed too that my battery doesn’t last as long as it used to prior to upgrading to Mango. I kept the general settings the same as they were before. I’ve been changing the settings around to determine what is causing this.
@ WP7 team – Any words on a fix for the WLM bug? My phone still doesn’t show any of my on-line WLM buddies.
@ everybody – Do any of you know how to attach a file (not a picture) to an email message?
@dkb1898 Just to let you know that I have read them. I just think they should not say one thing and do another. What I am getting at is that, the HTC HD7S was scheduling which apprently lasts 10 business days or less, after about 13 businesses days it's rolling out, but not to everyone - which does not make sense. But it does because it's rolling out to 50% of users. Please don't be rude to me for no reason...
@buckeye - if you are using the built in facebook chat/wlm and leave it at available, this will cause the battery to go faster as well
@buckeye - go to camera roll - hold onto the video you want to send and it will give you share - can be done via facebook, mail or skydrive
@Buckeye. I had a similar issue with my gamerscore not syncing properly between my Focus, Xbox.com and my Xbox 360 console when I updated to Mango. The only solution that I found was to get more achievements on the Xbox 360 console. Once I got 1 or 2 more achievements on a 360 game, the gamerscore between those 3 matched.
Hi Ms and Eric,
Just a quick check on my HTC WIN 7 PRO-O2 update??
Awesome phone just superb and Win Phone 7 for me is the nuts!!
the where's my update site still shows that the The Samsung Focus v. 1.4 is Testing. I hate feeling that I got the red headed stepchild of the WP7 phones. I can't wait for the Nokia's to come out so I can ditch this phone.
Thank you for this highly anticipated news.
Hope to see the updated percentage soon.
ooooohhhh please ... i have Samsung focus SGH-917 and still no update .. is there anything wrong with me?!!
I truely hope you guys are feverously working on the replacement of the Zune software to interface with the WP7.
IMHO, Zune software needs to be put on the shelf alongside Bob...
Please Make Windows Phone's a first class citizen in Windows 8
I still can't get it, tried everything,,,,this makes me sad, Have the HD7S
I am not sure which Mango OS version is official 7.10.7720 or 7.10.7720.68. I am living in Australia, I got the Mango OS version 7.10.7720.68 but it lacks of some features such as, music search on bing, compass, and unlive tile of music+video. So what is exactly the latest version code?
7.10.7720.68 is the version on my UK Orange Omnia 7. Also the bing features were not for everyone i believe as I think they are region specific, I could be wrong though.
@Darren Watson and Frank Thanh The latest version, the offical one is OS:7.10.7720.68 - not all the features are for every country. So in the UK, the Book, barcode, CD/DVD search does not work and there are other things like the app connect when you search using the bing button. If you have an HTC there is a compass app from HTC in the marketplace, hope this helps.
I have some questions,
I made update to my windows phone from 7 to 7.5,
when update is completed, i lost my all sms and emails accounts plus call history,
can i know why ?, and when i restore it to the old version, the sms and emails get's back.
is there any way to get my sms and email accounts back with the new version 7.5 ?
other thing with the version 7.5, i'm unable to send bulk sms it's showing error message " try again" ihave try a lot of time but it's giving me the same error, even if i send to 3 mobile numbers, While i can send a bulk sms from the current version 7.0 with more than 40 mobile no, is there any solution for this.
Please advice, I appreciate your swift answer on this matter.
Are there any updates for the HD7S's Mango delivery? Still don't see it here and am wondering if you have received enough successful installation reports to update all AT&T HD7S phones. Thank you.
@ NaderAlaradi when you update the phone to the new version it creates a back-up all your settings and then when it intstalls teh update it re-installs all your old settings and emails. It should do it automactically. Regarding with the Try again message, you need to post that in a forum - answers.microsoft.com/.../wp7
I enjoy the updates with one small hiccup. I cannot sync mail from microsoftonline since Mango's release. All of my other mailboxes sync without a hitch, but microsoftonline is my company's mail server and I have not been able to get mail from Outlook since the upgrade.
I stil havnt got an update for my phone i have a HTC Surround
Lol @ Microsoft. You speak of "Best Update experience"...have you looked at Apple? Good Update experience is to roll out the Update to all Users at the same time...no bullshit waves or Long Long Test phases (t-mobile de omnia 7 for example). It would be fun looking how you fail if it was not this sad. your Update experience is not this far from the android's one.
You fail on the Software Side and you are too late on top end Hardware, where are Windows phones with high resolutions? Where is nfc? Your competitors are always far ahead, so why should i choose wp7? Maybe if i want a last season device....
how much i hoped all Things will be better after the nodo disaster but nothing changed!
I have the HD7S on AT&T and I still have not gotten the Mango update or any notifications that it is ready. When you said you were delivering to the HD7S did you mean all of them? For my phone (only being two weeks old) has done nothing. So upset that everyone else is getting this!
Please could you tell us whats happening with the update situation, There has been problems with the update on some phones, but not manu people please could you continue to update the phones, to keep the consumers happy. I think this is pretty poor show.
Way to get my hopes up and then dash them away. Got the update notification today, nearly a week after this blog post mind you, and was so excited. Just did the update but my HD7S is only at 7392 now and both it and Zune say all is up to date. Yeah so that's a lie. Where's my 7720? Why is this so hard? Details please!
I get how a lot of the release and who gets it and when is random and up to the carriers but a little more transparency of the process would be great. Thanks for the update to nowhere though. Really nice.
