Hello everyone. Yesterday we began delivering the Windows Phone 7.5 update to LG Optimus 7 phones on Telefonica in Spain. We’re also now scheduling it for Samsung Omnia 7 phones on Deutsche Telekom.
In addition, we’re now delivering Mango to 100 percent of eligible phones around the world, regardless of carrier. (In other words, to everything that’s not listed as “scheduling” or “testing” on Where’s My Phone Update?).
As I mentioned last week, we’re also sending out “firmware” updates to some phones around the world, so don’t be surprised if you see another update notification pop up on your phone in the coming days. Firmware is software provided to us by handset makers that’s designed to do things like improve your phone’s performance, fix bugs, or even activate new features (if your phone hardware supports it). Not everybody will receive or require a firmware update: It all depends on your country, carrier, and phone model.

Sorry for my late reply. I saw your message today. I am using a Samsung Focus rev 1.3, not 1.4. I did not have to perform a factory reset in order to get the update. Remember, the later you get the update, the less errors you will have on your phone after the update. Just wait patiently for the update, as if you're standing in line waiting for your turn to board the plane. Also keep on the lookout for update notifications!

Hi Eric. I'm a UK user with an LG Optimus 7 on O2.
My Mango update keeps failing with error 8007001F - one of those not listed on MS site. Indications on internet seem to be that I need a firmware update for my phone (I have 18.104.22.168) but LG say there are no updates. What's the score, when will I get my Mango?
Is there any chance you could update the Where's my Phone Update? page now to list those phones/carriers you're still working on. As far as I can tell from your site my update should work (as should all), but then you periodically pop up and say "now delivering to phone x on carrier y" - if I'm in a group that is yet to be resolved then that would be good to know, otherwise I have a problem specific to my phone.
@jonnmay...my apologies for the late response. Too much going on during the weekends! :-) I swung it by calling AT&T and demanding that they not only take this piece of junk phone back but that I also wanted OUT of my contract so that I could explore my options with other carriers. I was immediately put in contact with someone in their customer relations dept. This lady told me I had two options...1) exchange the rev1.4 for a rev1.3...it would be considered a warranty exchange since I've owned this phone for less than 12 months and in my eyes, it's a lemmon...2)find another phone that would replace this Focus rev1.4, any phone they offer EXCEPT for the iPhone. AT&T can wave penalties since I've been with them for longer than 6 months but Apple doesn't allow the same flexibility. I will receive the same rebated pricing as if I was upgrading for the first time.
FYI...the lady I was talking too said you will only get this deal when calling AT&T directly. You cannot get this type of deal in an AT&T store.

Still waiting on my surround update too. I can't understand how Microsoft can push updates to millions of different PC's at the same time every month (from home built to Dell, lots of different hardware involved) and yet you take months to push out updates to less than 20 different phone styles. Why do the operator testing if you are going to push the updates out this slow? Also Eric, why blow smoke up our arse by saying it is 100% available if we still have to wait longer for the update?
@kiwibird97 how did u get ur mango updat did u have to factory reset? So we can help other rev 1.4 owner to get their mangoes :)

I have waited patiently, but always when I check I’m still up to date with 7392. And I’m getting tired of waiting.
Seriously, my phone it’s a Surround AT&T BUT I unbranded it because waiting for NoDo was too much time and I wanted to update it. Now it doesn’t seem to update even when it’s unbranded. So I don’t know how you can say 100%. When today, October 30th I checked it and it magically says I’m still up to date.
If I had still AT&T branded I would blame AT&T but its unbranded so, I don’t know. I’m just tired of waiting, and still not getting the update. And I don’t understand why. Specially now when you say 100% of eligible phones.
I am now very happy that Mango is finally available for my phone... after waiting for about 35 long days!
I am beginning my first update out of 3 updates. First one being the 7.0.7392.0, then the 7.0.7403.0, and finally, the 7.10.7720.68 "Mango" update.

^This little tweet from Samsung Support really does nothing but add fuel to the fire of my rage. What the hell are you guys keeping secret and why is it you insist on distancing the people who have been faithful to your company?
Guess I'm just going to have to accept that I got a lemon of a phone and just deal with it till my next upgrade sometime in 2013. Which will not be Samsung or WP7, probably will end up just being a feature phone because even if I buy an Android I'm still paying Microsoft.

I am not sure if it's because i reset to factory mode 2 weeks ago when my phone is not being recognized by my computer... it asked me to update to 7392 and then the 7720. @hawk i'm pretty sure i have rev 1.4
All I can say is windows phone 7.5/OS v 7720 which they call mango works perfectly with Samsung focus rev 1.4
Update...according to my enterprise level account manager, I can dump this Focus rev1.4 and get another phone without penalty. Only penalty I would pay is if I were to get an iPhone, which I could care less about.
Sorry MS...you had a chance to make things right. You think you would have learned from your NoDo update fiasco! In 3 days, it'll be November and not a word about the rev1.4. You should be embarrassed!
@Martz...can't be right...check the back of your underneath your battery. You'll need to remove your battery. It will show you a rev #, 1.3 or 1.4. I just called AT&T and they told me there has been no update sent out for the rev1.4 unit and wouldn't ya know it, they said they didn't know when that would happen.
Dudes...so sick of being treated this way. We're all locked into contracts and if we cannot receive updates in a timely manner, then IMHO, MS, Samsung and AT&T are ALL at fault and AT&T is not living up their end of the bargain. I'm on the phone with them right now trying to dump this phone.
@martz That really makes me envious of you and makes hate ATT and MSFT more. I don't know whether you are part of a random selective tester group or something. Most of rev 1.4 users as i know are waiting for the update. But you getting the update might be a silver line of good thing to come.
@blaksnar I believe Enochroot1 posted in that forum is an AT&T, and yes i bought this device with AT&T last july 2011 and im still under the contract. I updated to mango when i received a notification from my phone.. Samsung focus rev 1.4
@martz Thanks. I'm aware of that thread. The phone he updated was v1.4 Canadian unbranded. Many folks here are worried about US ATT branded phones which still has no updates. I asked you in specific because you mentioned you are in ATT. Where did you buy the phone and is it an ATT branded device?
@hassan Nokia's Clear Black displays have to be seen to be believed, they really are that good so dont worry about screen.
You are so true. I'm already considering a Nokia device for my next upgrade- not the Lumia though, I'll wait for Apollo's. But I'm really going to miss my super awesome display on this Omnia 7 :'(. I Love my Omnia, but I don't think I can handle these update issues/frustrations anymore :-/
I'm from Poland. I have Samsung Omnia 7 but I can't update my phone to Mango. My operator is T-Mobile. When check update in Zune4.8 is writing "Your phone is up to date. Current phone software version 7.0(7392)".
When Mango update will be available in Poland ?

Guys I have been as frustrated as all you's waiting for Mango on my Omnia, but what you need to do is boycott Samsungs devices when you upgrade. Just think what problems there will be for the next updates aswell.
Nothing yet here for my unlocked Samsung Omnia 7...
@martz Are you sure? Not a single soul I know of in Interwebs having v1.4 has confirmed that they updated to Mango the official way.
I'm really hoping that my unlocked LG Quantum on Telus in Canada (which allows tethering) will receive an update that enables internet sharing (wifi in particular). It's occurred to me that I am spending a lot of time searching the internet for any little tidbit or morsel of information as to whether such an update is coming to my phone. I keep finding vague little blurbs here and there with info such as "some devices will receive an update" or "it depends on the model of your phone" or "it's up to your carrier". With a relatively small number of generation 1 phones, why is it that Microsoft doesn't have a detailed, up-to-date website with this sort of info. Driver updates can't be that difficult for a manufacturer to come up with (again, there are relatively few Generation 1 phones) and a few calls to carriers to confirm whether they'd support new features couldn't be a huge strain on resources.
If you want to win in the smartphone market, you need to pressure manufacturers and carriers (or whoever the roadblock is) to move forward with updates. Users such as myself are ready to give you all the free advertising you could want by bragging about and showing our phones to friends. Please give us the tools.
@Angel... Specific info is exactly what is needed. I don't understand why Microsoft is being so secretive about the updates. No info at all on the 1.4 Focus. No info about what phones are getting firmware updates and what the firmware updates are for. I just don't understand why we can't know about changes being made to the phones that we paid money for.
And @Tyguy...I would be extremely upset if I had a v1.3 phone with Mango and had to send it in for warranty and got a v1.4 back. You came on here much calmer than I would have been. I thought I had it bad because I bought 3 Focus phones for my family at the same time. My wife and son got the v1.3 and I was the odd man out with the v1.4. By the time I learned about the two different versions of the phone, it was too late to return it.
Great that you guys are delivering updates to most people... But again, what is the point of these 'diplomatic' posts? How about some specific info on the firmware updates, not just saying 'some phones'?

I have Samsung focus rev 1.4 AT&T and got my update notice early this week. My phone is updated to mango 7720. :)
I have Omnia7 on Deutsche Telekom (t-mobile Croatia) and in the morning(week ago) i saw notice on my phone that update is available for my phone. Later that day i plugged it into computer and i received Mango update.
So how is that possible ?

That's great but when can we expect this Mango update? I'm running a Singapore HD7 and I've waited and waited and even now, I'm not getting anything from the carriers or MS.
I understand you guys have to make nice with the carriers but really, they are pretty horrible with pushing out updates. Can't you offer an alternate update route rather than through the carrier please?
Samsung (and MS) shd get together and offer Samsung Focus hardware rev 1.4 owners a free upgrade path ot a Focus Flash OR heavilly discounted Focus S upgrade. Very ordinary situation for all owners of this edition - and I empathise with them.
Whilst there at it, maybe Samsung (or MS) would like to confirm more details - perhaps a new table - confirming Tethering/Internet sharing expectations for GEN1 handsets.
A. We know some models can (hacks have proved it)
B. We know carriers may not want it - but unlocked handsets on carriers that do should not be made to pay.
C. It's only fair as GEN2 handsets come onto the market to publicly confirm which GEN1 handsets can or cannot, will or will not get Tethering via update BEFORE people committ to a new handset. Ethical and transparent.
In Australia in the past 48 hours, Samsung Omnia owners on at least 1 carrier received the f/ware updates which enabled Tethering.
I'm sure many would like their siutations clarified and expectations better managed!
Well, Mango has been out full month now and I still can't get the update on my ATT Surround. Any Idea how much longer I will have to wait? I would force it if I could but it will not let me do it.
Do you remember when MS said they were taking a different route and forcing phone manufacturers to meet their specs instead of designing the OS to meet the specs of the phone manufacturers. By allowing Samsung to not only release a device that did not meet their specs and then allow them to continue to sell it after the fact, they're opening itself up to any other phone manufacturer to do the same thing. And we will be the ones who suffer.
I am looking forward to the mango upgrade, but think that MS should stick to their guns and continue to hold phone manufacturers accountable and not let the consumer suffer.
Why can't someone give us some info on when the focus v1.4 will get the update. on sept 27 MS said that by OCT 31 all phone should have the update but the focus v1.4 still is in testing mode can someone really tell us what 's going on... your new motto is put people first what about us!!!!
I too would like to know about the Focus 1.4. I was a happy Focus 1.3 owner and was enjoying Mango. At first, I didn't see a real big difference in using it. However, last week I had to warranty my phone and the 1.4 is what I was sent. It's been very hard to go back to NoDo. The improved browser, multitasking w/ updated apps, and voice recognition in Mango have been sorely missed!

Do you know how frustrating this all is? I didn't personally call up AT&T and tell them to send me this revision. They've known about these issues all summer but have done nothing about it.
The Samsung Focus v1.4 should have been replaced and taken off the market as soon as these problems came to light. Instead they have created a small group of unhappy customers who feel they are personally being excluded.
If Nokia wants some good advertising they should offer to swap all these 1.4 samsungs for one of there nice new phones. Hint Hint.
@xerto73 - My thoughts exactly. I didn't know there were v1.3 and v1.4 phones when I bought the Samsung Focus. I would have been glad if someone advised me not to buy the v1.4. All we knew is, there was one phone, Samsung Focus. But who knew that all Focuses are not made same. It's not like, I went into the store and asked for upgrade issue plagued Focus v1.4.

@1.4 owners - guys there is nothing to report the where's my update gets updated or there is a specific blog post when it happens.
at this time its still states - 1.4 is Testing and the Dell Venue Pro is in Planning.
Yes, it sucks but again its still Samsung's fault for using different specs then what MS approved.

Also, please Microsoft, remove the comments section from your blog posts if no one even bothers to read what's being said here. It's being like shouting at the wall. And the word "Feedback Form" somewhat ridicules everyone without a reply here.
It's beyond irritating to wait for Mango with Samsung Focus v1.4. It's disappointing to note that Eric has refused to even acknowledge anything directly about Samsung Focus v1.4. He has never even mentioned it as an exception in any of his post. This is getting beyond ridiculous. It's a month now since Mango was public and we need to wait for god knows how long?
Eric, what about all of us Samsung Focus v1.4 users? Are you even going to make the update by the end of the month? Give us something besides, "It's coming soon", "We're looking into it, and will expedite deployment once released". Expediting doesn't make feel any better when I've already had to wait a month.
The awesome thing I thought about the windows phone OS was you were making the manufacturers conform to use the OS. What happens? Samsung releases a new version of the phone and you don't find out about it until the first major OS upgrade (NoDo) and don't do a darn thing about it.. So it is better to ask for forgiveness than for permission. You've just opened the door for every other phone manufacturer out there to do the same thing, and who suffers? Us, the consumers.
If you need a guinea pig let me know, at least then I would know you were at least trying to solve the problem.
While I'm glad I don't have a Focus 1.4 (I have a 1.3, and can empathize with the 1.4 owners), I would like to know if Eric (or someone else in MS) will tell us what specific models will get ODM firmware updates.
@drankurn - I've always had Nokia's in the past and never had any issues. Since there were no Nokia options for AT&T I went with who I thought was the 2nd best hardware manufacturer.... and the phone was only $1 on Amazon. I've never had any problems getting an early upgrade from AT&T either, so I'm not worried about paying more out of pocket.

Sick of this! I get no response to questions about the Focus 1.4 on Twitter. MS decides it's better just to stay quiet on the matter, and keep us in the dark. I can't take it any more! This was my first smartphone and the whole experience has been ruined. All I hear from MS is how great Mango is, it's like they're teasing us with it. IF I buy another smartphone it will NOT be a Windows Phone. WP7 is great, but no company should be able to treat it's customers like this. You guys can't even stop for 5 whole mins and at least let us know where we currently are with this Focus 1.4 debacle? I SHOULD have gone with an Android phone they already have the features that I've been waiting all summer to get on my Focus. Seriously! I'm stuck with this phone for 2 years and I'm the one that has to live with it. This is unacceptable!!!
i completely agree, i was saying the same thing at the time of NoDo, but was told by everyone that it's different when updating from when you are trying to update, i really didn't understand since this is not my field but i just accepted that argument to be true.
but as i said earlier, we can accept the delay with NoDo, but not with Mango, they have had more than enough time, on top of that we were being told this won't be repeated, everytime we complained.
and it looks like they just said it's in testing from the day they released mango to other phones just so that we don't complain about it at the time of the release, but it looks to me that it was a mistake to keep quiet.
@Drankurn I understand that they didn't know but I don't understand why if it ran the same software from the first day it came out that it all of a sudden can't. And you are right, NODO updating was a mess and they have had plenty of time to plan for updating these phones to Mango.
It drives me crazy that we are told absolutely nothing about our phones. I would be happy if they had one of their Tech guys come on here and tell us exactly why this phone can't update. It doesn't matter to me if he speaks in terms that I can't understand, I would still be happy if they would make an effort. And when I say I want someone to explain it, I mean an actual Microsoft employee. Not one of the great "Microsoft Defenders" that are all over this site.
may be i would give MS pass with NoDo, since that was the first time that they found out about it, but not now , after about 6 months MS should have been up to pace with it.
Nothing on the v1.4 Focus....seriously? Amazing how the phone came out with 2 different versions but since Microsoft didn't know, they both ran the same version of the operating system from day one. NODO comes out and all of a sudden the v1.4 can run the same software as the 1.3? At this point, Microsoft should just send me a check for the phone. Blame Samsung all you want but like I said v1.3 and v1.4 ran the same software all the way up to NODO. The ball is in Microsoft's court.
why would you spend your money on another wp7, we should be asking MS/Samsung for better service or for replacement.

where's the update for focus 1.4, it can't take this long testing a phone where the only difference is the memory module, I mean it's been more than a month since we have been told that it's testing, who knows long long before that it's been in testing,
this is completely unacceptable, since we were told that this won't be the case when this issue first popped up with the NoDo update.
and please don't just keep dropping that standard line of we are working very hard, and that all phones will get mango, because just getting the update is not everything, it has to be at a reasonable time, the reason it bothers me more is that we were told that this won't happen with Mango.
Eric, what's the word on Focus v1.4? My wife just looks at me and shakes her head every day that she doesn't have it. And when I brag about it to my iPhone/Android owning friends, she'll quietly say, "Must be nice."
