Heading to the Hunger Games this weekend? Here are two good reasons to detour to your local Microsoft Store instead: You could win either a new District 12-decorated laptop or a new Windows Phone.
It’s all part of a Smoked by Windows Phone contest that Microsoft Stores kicked off yesterday. Here’s the deal: You walk in and tell any store employee you want to take the challenge. You then get one shot to beat them at an everyday task like finding a 5-star restaurant or updating your Facebook status.
Win and you take home a special edition HP Folio 13 ultrabook engraved with the Hunger Games movie title and District 12 insignia. Lose—even Katniss would like her chances here—and you get a free Windows Phone, as long as you’re willing to toss your current handset in the recycling bin.
Hurry: the contest ends March 29 or when each store’s 10 allotted prizes have run out. Study the official contest rules for more details, and visit us on Facebook to watch previous Smoked by Windows Phone challenges as a warm up.
May the odds be ever in your favor.
The Tao of Badass: Another thing is the way she's dressed. If she's dressed in a way that's super flashy and attracting lots of attention, she probably isn't the kind of girl you can walk up to and make out with in 40 seconds. www.thetaoofbadass-reviews.com
This kind of women is looking for attention - not for someone to dominate them. What you want is someone who's in between "I don't care" and "Stare at my tits, bitch!" Somewhere between wearing sweatpants with an elastic waistband to the bar and done up really, really beautiful and sexy with a really low-cut shirt. You want to find someone who's in between those two extremes.
So instead, if you see a woman who is in a conversation but she's constantly looking around and trying to make eye contact with a lot of people, this is probably a very, very likely opportunity for you and that's a woman you can walk up to and immediately become sexual with. Tao of badass review www.thetaoofbadass-reviews.com
Other traits are revealed in the way they're moving and how they're dressed. Let's say she's standing with her feet about shoulder-width apart. It's less likely that a woman standing like this is going to be available for you to walk up and dominate. That's because she's standing in a dominant position, with stronger body language and she'll probably be a lot more resistant.
@ Hawk –
Sad that this is MS only campaign, "my phone is faster than yours". That's kinda like saying "I know you are but what am I". How childish of a compaign is this???!!!
and
First, I guess WP7 needs to at least do what the other OS's can already do and have for years? For example, actually have the ability to take a video and send it via TEXT!!!!
…Thank you, thank you for saying what I’ve been saying for so long!!! It seems that the marketing team is made of a bunch of high school teenagers.
@nothungergames...another report via CNET.com tells a story of a guy who's now hired an attorney because he too won the competition with his iPhone but the store said they had won. The store manager then got involved and told the guy to run the competition again, he did and he won again. They even did it a third time and the iPhone won again. Sounds like MS will be glad to promote it when they do win but when they get beat, they'r sorry losers!

Hey MS...if you really want to prove your OS to others and try to gain on the Apple and Google market, try inventing something the other OS's can't do! How about them apples?

FYI...I'm a WP7 user but getting tired of it. Unless MS can invent something new and exciting, I'm switching back to the iPhone!
I have had a bad experience yesterday. I went in to San Jose one and they asked me to upload a new cover photo for Facebook for the challenge. I did so on Droid Bionic and then when i finished, I was told I lost. The challenge person said that the Windows Phone can do that without having to go to Facebook app. I then noticed they had NOT posted a new COVER photo. the person at the store had only updated PROFILE photo. COVER PHOTO and PROFILE PHOTO are two different things.
So I pointed out that I had won because I won the task which was stated by them had not even been finished. I then went and picked up a win phone on display and found out it is not even capable of changing cover photo. their phone can only do profile photo.
Even after asking them nicely i was asked to hold up a shameful smoked with windows phone banner. Felt really cheated. Was not given any prize. the rep there just seemed shocked when i first pointed it out since they knew they made mistake saying COVER Photo instead of Profile Photo. )Unless it was on purpose, I dont know)
Also went and googled "windows phone challenge" today to get my sister timings to go do it as well. The first result that comes up is this skattertech.com/.../i-won-the-windows-phone-challenge-but-lost-just-because (not too good)
that guy also went to same store location as the one location i went to in bay area. now i now for sure that this whole thing is just a little rigged for marketing. truly sad. employees did not want to talk to me after the challenge either. anyone around contest booth were slightly dismissing anything i asked trying to look busy.
I dont mean to be rude, but this form is called "feedback" and I hope you guys take this into consideration. lots and lots of people were going in and switching and it looks that the store was not too keen about about anyone winning if they have a better phone.
Seriously?? MS hardly has any stores in the U.S. either - for me to take part in this one, I'd have to drive almost an hour (assuming no traffic) to get to the Bellevue/Redmond store. And as @Robyn Wright said, there isn't one at all in St. Louis, which is a large U.S. Metropolitan area. So sorry, "Rest of the World", you're not alone in being left out of this one. Everybody doesn't get to play every time.
Promotions like this are great for an international audience where they have a Microsoft Store just down the street....oh wait... Nope this just feels like you're sticking your tongue out at us who don't have a store nearby.
We REALLY need a Microsoft store here in St. Louis!
@djmike. Agree. They are hot. In fact, I'm sitting in a coffee shop steps away from Seattle's University Village store now, and am thinking I might have to walk down and feel one.
What an awesome promotion!! Do the Microsoft Stores carry phones from all carriers?? The only downside I see would be getting hit with an ETF from your current carrier for switching to ATT or TMO to use your shiny new WP7. Other than that, this is WIN WIN WIN! And those HP Folio 13s are sleek and sexy!!
