Comparisons such as this are of little use in the real world. The MS spin makes this sound like a great deal but...

1. You can buy a brand spanking new Samsung Galaxy S4 off contract for under $600 and the price keeps falling.

2. The Lumina is a low end phone; the S4 is a top end phone.

3. Follow the link on this page to purchase the Vivobook listed above and guess what? They are out of stock. I guess you save another $449 because you can't buy one.

4. Lastly, if you purchase MS Office 360 for $79.00 as listed on the linked page so you can actually use the laptop, guess what? You get to spend another $80 every year after that to keep the subscripiton active. It did not cost me a cent to add MS Office compatibility to my Galaxy S3.

Not such a great deal after all.

This should have just been an on/off setting on the default camera. The "video" should have been on a .gif format.

Great article. Sure, the S4 may have much better specs, and Windows Phone has much to work on...

Until someone finds me an android phone at the same price point, without contract, as the Lumia 521, then I can say this article is crap. But the point is, I haven't (Ben even had a similar artcle on this) The Lumia 521 sweeps the market at this price point.

Heck, even an Android user wouldn't want to use an $150 Froyo device.

Or he could compare the best Android phone out there, and the most affordable Windows Phone out there, and see what you could buy with the $600 extra. If I was offered 2 phones for free, an S4 and the Lumia 521, I would definitely choose the S4 anytime.

But, if I had the choice of an S4, or the Lumia 521, a 16GB SD card, 3 months of Xbox, and a laptop...

Doesn't it make you feel like Samsung is ripping you off a bit?

One more update: The fix that I had been referring to earlier is now live, so people who were having trouble seeing the setting using my suggested steps (with or without Wifi) should now be able to go back through those steps I laid out earlier to get these settings down to their phone!

So, make sure you are connected, then go to the Store, browse around for a bit to make sure you're seeing new content. Then go check out your photo auto-upload settings again. Hopefully this now works for everyone!

It is nice to see Microsoft still develops for Windows Phone, I thought they were abandoning it. They just come out with new Skype features and ignore Windows Phone. It would be interesting to hear why they ignored Windows Phone, maybe they want to be like all other developers and ignore it.

How can anyone take WP seriously when Microsoft cannot even get it's own company to support the phone.

Although I will take what I can get, I do seem to remember a more Siri like experience being demoed a couple of years ago. I also remember demos of live tiles that show geofencing and locational awareness. When will I be able to have reminders that go off based on location. When will I get profiles that set my phone to vibrate when I get to work or I am in a meeting.

When will I get video messaging with Skype? Like was just released for everybody else and Blackberry devices?

Os utilizadores do Windows phone 7.8 estão a ficar esquecidos, penso que este temple run deve funcionar nos smartphones de cpu de um núcleo, e outros games que estão a ser para Windows phone 8 poderiam funcionar em Windows phone 7.8, no Android qualquer um deles funciona para alem de serem grátis.

Any improvement on any aspect or feature is always welcome. And it's great to see individual apps that are very popular on other platforms are starting to pop up--in no small part to Nokia's near-herculean efforts. But when we see yet another example of an app that should have come out for Windows Phone first actually showing up on all platforms BUT Windows Phone, it's hard to maintain a significantly high level of enthusiasm when that keeps happening. Windows Phone 8 was to represent a much higher ability to augment features than WP7 was capable of. Although the rumors of GDR2 and GDR3 sound promising, they are still not much more than rumors. The hype behind WP8.1 (aka, Blue) would seem to indicate the system will be moving more into parity with at least the Windows RT, bringing a somewhat more unified platform. But we've also seen that RT seems to suffer from the same dragging approach to updates and feature improvements. It's quite frustrating.
