Windows 7 themes: what’s new… and Gears of War 3 coming soon!

I am excited to announce that we’ll be bringing you not one, but TWO new themes to celebrate next week’s release of Gears of War 3! Check back next week on the “New” and “Games” tabs of the Themes page to find striking portraits of Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago and the other heroes of Delta Squad, and magnificent artworks created especially for the launch of the Xbox 360 blockbuster.

As for new themes you can get without waiting, we have new desktop décor ranging from brightly cute to darkly surreal.

With Fruit Ninja you can bring the flavor of the curiously addictive fruit-slicing game to your desktop, complete with katana-slicing sound-effects and music from the game.

Next up is the new Akrapovic Morsus theme. The Morsus is a high-end custom motorcycle from the manufacturing company founded by Slovenian racer Igor Akrapovic. The remarkably artistic photography in this theme allows the bike’s stunning details to emerge sleekly from the surrounding blackness.

The biggest new theme is a collection curated by my teammate Magnus, in Stockholm. Magnus researched hundreds of photographs of Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands in order to compile a set of the most beautiful Nordic landscape shots. You can enjoy the result in this big 17-image theme.

For action movie fans, we have a theme featuring poster artwork and scenes from the summer blockbuster Captain America: The First Avenger.

In my previous blog post I interviewed Josh Sommers, creator of the surreal digital artwork in the new Illusions theme. If you haven’t already checked it out it is definitely worth a look.

That’s it for this week. I hope these new themes will help keep your desktop fun and fresh during September. And lots more are in the works, so please do keep checking back for new Windows 7 themes on the Windows Personalization gallery. I add more almost every week.
