Official Twitter app for Windows Phone 8 adds dark theme, lock screen support, and more

The highly-rated official Twitter app for Windows Phone 8 received a juicy update today. If you don’t already own it, you can download version 3.0 from the Store here.

One of the most noticeable changes you’ll see in this new version is a new dark theme for a more subdued appearance. But the upgrades are more than just skin deep. During account registration, the app now offers suggestions for friends and other people to follow, to get you into the conversation quicker. The update also brings some nice upgrades to Search and Discover, making it a richer overall experience. New direct message syncing means your Twitter account is always up-to-date: read a message on your Windows Phone and it’s marked as “read” on your Windows PC, too. Finally, you’ll now be able to get tweets on your lock screen and receive Live Tile notifications whenever one of your favorite tweeters posts.

Once you’ve given it a test drive, post a comment and tell us what you think.
