This weekend, Microsoft Studios will open in Austin, TX as part of South by Southwest (SXSW) 2014. The Studio space showcases the diversity of Microsoft from Xbox to Windows to emerging Microsoft Research technologies focusing on the nexus between creativity and technology.

Highlights include:

  • Performance by celebrated musician Questlove as he uses an Acer Aspire S7 with Windows 8.1 Windows PC to bring to life his DJ set.
  • Surface Filmmaker panel where you’ll get to shoot in 6K with an EPIC DRAGON camera, ingest footage and apply camera settings using Surface, pull stills from footage and manipulate them using Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and Premiere, color correct and grade the footage using ASSIMILATE’s SCRATCH Play. The workshop will be led by leading motion and stills producer John Marchant of London’s KipperTie, LTD.
  • Interactive art installations, a photo gallery, work space and networking space and more.

Also, engage with us on social media. Windows wants to help with your #SXSWproblems. Crack a phone screen? We might be able to upgrade you to a new Nokia Lumia 1020. Need a tablet to take notes at all the panels? We’d like to hook you up with a new Dell Venue 8 Pro, Surface 2 or Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet. Tweet at Windows; we will be #readywhenyouare and monitoring that hash tag starting Saturday morning.

For those who’ve won something from the #readywhenyouare promotion, you’ll need to appear at the Microsoft Studio with a photo ID and proof of tweet.

Plus, stay tuned to the #microsoftstudio hash tag and our OneDrive folder for images and live tweets from the Studio. Of course, if you’re in town drop by 323 Congress Avenue to check out the latest and greatest!
