Small businesses, and the entrepreneurs who start them, have been said to be the back bone of the United States and a key driver of our economic growth. Some people may think that small businesses are the low man on the totem pole, but the interesting thing to remember is that every business started small. Here at Microsoft we understand the challenges that small businesses face, especially the ones being started by younger generations, and we want our technology to help them be successful.
The new generation of tech savvy entrepreneurs know that they have lots of different choices when it comes to technology. However, no matter what type of entrepreneur you are, a PC loaded with Windows 7 Professional can help your business be successful. This is why we partnered with blogger Glen Hellman from DrivenForward.com, to host a Young Entrepreneur contest. The contest kicked off this week and asks entrants to make a short video telling us about their big entrepreneurial idea. Doing so will make them eligible for a chance to win one of four new Windows 7 Professional PCs to help start a new business.
Check out Glen’s blog post kicking-off the contest as it highlights the details of what needs to go into the video entry, as well as outlines the official rules and regulations. As a caveat, contestants need to be 18-40 years old and a resident of the United States. Others are welcome to help support the entries, but the actual contestant must fall within these restrictions. Need more incentive to enter? Here are some of the things last year’s winners are saying about their PCs.
“I think the coolest thing about the Windows PC is the mobility. It’s no secret that Internet entrepreneurs, especially young ones, are into the mobility of an Internet business. Using the laptop to create a mobile business was huge!” – Michael Fear, Founder and CEO of GetBetterToday.com
“I love the speed of my PC and sleekness of everything from the hardware to the operating system. I feel like a real CEO when working on my new laptop, like I am ahead of the curb and I deserve success!” – Charles Fyffe, Founder and CEO of Charlie’s Brownies
“I love using PowerPoint on my Windows PC to make proposals for funders and major partners of She’s the First. Each device I use has a specific purpose, and the PC is really the no-fuss heart of it all. I couldn’t do my job without it!” – Tammy Tibbetts, Founder and President of She’s the First
We hope that you will check out the contest on DrivenForward.com. Additionally, we thought it would be fun to pull together an infographic that outlines some of the types of entrepreneur personalities out there – take the quiz below to find out where you fall. And as always, we love hearing from you so please feel free to leave a comment after you take it and tell us what type of entrepreneur you are.
