Nokia Theatre L.A. steps up

LOS ANGELES, USA – In a deal that’ll last for the next 10 years, Nokia Theatre L.A. Live has been named as the new venue for the annual Emmy Awards. Starting from this September, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will host its annual extravaganza at one of LA’s newest venues.

This year’s Emmy Awards will be the 60th when the event kicks off on 21 September.

The event is scheduled to be a big one too, with E! Online reckoning on 6,500 TV-related revelers showing up for the event. AEG president and CEO Timothy Leiweke, who’s organisation own and run the Nokia Theatre, had this to say on E! Online:

“While Nokia Theatre L.A. Live will provide the very best technical elements available in any venue anywhere, the overall environment and atmosphere that the Academy will activate and create throughout the entire district will further establish the Prime-Time Emmys as one of the industry’s most respected and important awards shows and one that now is guaranteed to be in Los Angeles for the next decade.”

Since opening last year the Nokia Theatre L.A. has played host to some excellent performers:

“The Eagles, the Dixie Chicks, Neil Young, Mary J. Blige and John Mayer are among the artists who have performed at the Nokia since its doors opened six months ago.”
