N-Gage has landed!

ESPOO, Finland – Without any fuss or fanfare, the long awaited second generation of N-Gage has been unleashed and set free into the wild. And already it’s become the talking-point of Nokia.

The new service which is available on selected handsets brings a whole new dimension to mobile gaming, with some of the best games in the business now available on mobile devices.

The Wall Street journal quoted 22-yeard Lebanese blogger Rita El Khoury who said simply “N-Gage is a must-have”.

Stuart Dredge at Pocket-Gamer is getting straight into the action, after seeing news of the service going live on Facebook

“N-Gage is live. We’ll be downloading the app tonight and reporting back tomorrow with our initial assessment, but if you’ve got a supported handset, get to it! See you on the N-Gage Arena rankings…”

PhoneMag.com focusses on which handsets the services is available on

“Currently available for the Nokia N81, N81 8GB, N82, N95 and N95 8GB, the company are promising versions for the N73, N93 and N93i soon, as well as others.”

Engadget.com sheds a little light on the lack of fanfare

“It’s apparently saving the full, official announcement until Monday, but Nokia just dropped word on its N-Gage blog that the final version of its new N-Gage gaming service / application is now live and ready for your taking.”

MocoNews.net via WashingtonPost.com reports on the launch directly from CTIA in Las Vegas and looks at what N-Gage means for games developers and Nokia

“Game developers are hopeful that N-Gage will lead to a second stage of higher-quality gaming that will drive sales, and it’s a big part of Nokia’s push at becoming a content company.”

Right, it’s best you don’t expect any more from us over the next few days. We’ll be busy, erm, testing the new N-Gage. What will you be doing?
