N-Gage teams up with TV femme fatales

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Yesterday we brought you news of a fresh avenue that’s emerged to equip and encourage developers to create online community based gaming away from the N-Gage landscape. Thing is, N-Gage has to set the benchmark here for mobile gaming, but people need exposure to the possibilities and this has to penetrate the mainstream entertainment conscience in order to get gamers interacting.

Helping this process along, N-Gage has teamed up with Swedish media company Bringiton, for a new TV series dubbed Play US. This new show is airing across nine countries, and follows a team of professional elite girl gamers who play global hit Counter-Strike at a world-class level. The aim being to bring the gaming world to an even wider audience, and in turn smartly integrating and interweaving TV, Internet and mobile:

“With N-Gage we’re offering a seamless experience for people around the world to try and buy games that are engaging, accessible and have wide appeal,” said Nokia’s Senior Multimedia Marketing Manager William Tepfenhardt. “Play Us is a great step in the gaming industry and showcases its entertainment value to a wider casual gaming audience.”

Do you think this sort of exposure will help grow the online mobile gaming community?
