Nokia and Qualcomm resolution will spark greater innovation

ESPOO, Finland – Having successfully managed to unlock legal horns, Nokia and global chipset creator Qualcomm have announced a new agreement that promises to enable even greater innovations over the coming decades.

Today, a new 15-year agreement was announced between the companies, granting Nokia a license to use all Qualcomm’s patents in its devices. From our perspective as users it’s hugely positive, because this equips Nokia with an extra level of freedom to evolve new hardware with a slightly larger and sharper toolset.

This is a point Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo was keen to highlight today:

“We believe that this agreement is positive for the industry, enabling the market to benefit from innovation and new technologies”
