This week, our trio of Ovi Store picks, surfaced last week by our buddies on MyDailyApp cater for the adventurous – ideal mobile companions to get you making the most of the warmer weather. Time to don the shades and get out there.
To kick things off, we have Species Explorer, tipping its cap to National Wildlife Week last week this app allows you to reach in to your inner Bear Grylls. Upload what you’ve seen on your travels or take a look at what others have found. Just take a pic of your recent ethological finding and the app connects with the Species Explorer website to identify your finding, also mapping other species sitings in the area.

Next we have Remember Here. A handy app to keep track of special moments, places and occasions. Using speedy GPS and Ovi Maps, Remember Here lets you record places quickly and easily. Snap a picture of a place and add a little annotation to jog your memory. It doesn’t end there, this clever app also finds local places of interest and hooks into services such as local traffic available through Ovi Maps (this good thing doesn’t come for free unfortunately) and also has an en-route dashboard that tells you how fast you’re going on your route.
For such a handy app, unfortunately there’s a price to pay. Remember Here basic is available for free now from the Ovi Store but for the unlimited version you will have to fork out $2.99 (USD).
Bringing our adventurous trip through app world to a close, is a world-wise app called Live Currency. This convenient little app does exactly what you expect it to do – provide the latest currency information from a truly reliable source, and they don’t come more reliable that the European Central Bank (ECB).
With a simple and easy to use interface, Live Currency offers any of 23 different currencies including the Euro, U.S dollar, British Pound, Japanese yen, Indian rupee and the Mexican peso. Choose the currency you have, fill in the amount you want to convert, click “convert” and you’ll quickly have the latest currency conversion rates for the other 22 currencies.
