GLOBAL – Three brand new messaging devices landed today, each one packing finger-tapping-friendly QWERTY keyboards and enough social connections to make Hitch look like a pariah. Together with the latest Nokia services these devices deliver a brilliant messaging package at a pretty powerful price. Nokia Messaging brings together a pretty compelling communications package too, with support for up to 10 email accounts, support for major email vendors, including business email through Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes Traveller and support for major Instant Messaging accounts, as well.
Beyond that come the little touches – Facebook updates on your homescreen or in your contacts book, instant one-touch access to your favourite contacts and the ability to easily (and quickly) update your status or share a picture online.
Today’s announcements also bring with them some pretty cool firsts. The Nokia C3 is the first Series 40 device to sport a full QWERTY keyboard and it’s at a price that’s pretty jaw-dropping. The Nokia E5 sports some stupendously long battery life whilst the Nokia C6 brings together the best of touchscreen and keyboard in one device. All three sport WiFi as well.
The one constant across all three devices, and now also across both Cseries and Eseries is Nokia Messaging. Having grown from humble beginnings, the service has evolved and matured to offer a range of services now covering email, and Instant Messaging. The arrival of the C3 though signals the shift of messaging into the hands of a much wider group of people. Once again, bringing smartphone style functionality into more entry level devices.
It makes the future pretty exciting, in my book. What do you think?
