An Ovi Roundup from Nokia World

So, the last couple of days have been packed with Ovi-related news from Nokia World – Have you been keeping track of all the chatter? Well, don’t worry if you’ve missed anything, because we’ve put together a roundup of all the relevant news and discussion from the past few days…

Cj has been keeping track of the action and regularly updating ZOMGItsCJ with the latest updates – He’s posed the question: “how do you stay in contact with all your friends on all your networks?” The answer: shiny new Ovi social features on Symbian^3 phones!

As you can see from the video, the new social networking features place an emphasis on using these new devices as a social hub for you and your friends.

Which flows nicely into the launch of the new Ovi Maps version 3.06 beta, which is fully supported by the new S^3 social networking features. Matthew at Nokia Experts caught the announcement of the new version and seems impressed with the check-in, public transport maps, and all of the other new features – although Matthew has an N97 mini to test it out on, he can’t wait to use it on a brand new N8.

Nokia Mobile’s Ed, who’s on the ground at Nokia World, has reported back from a Q&A session with Pino from the Ovi team – his favourite features from the update are the search function and the social check in feature.

On top of this, John from My Nokia Blog has also been talking about the latest release, and has posted up a rather funny video with the Ovi Blog team showing off the new check-in feature:

Next up: We have a shiny new updated Ovi Store launching with the new Symbian^3 devices. Symbian Freak’s Teo has posted up all of the latest information and screenshots, pointing out that any early N8 users will be able to check out the latest store from today!

Last but by no means least, Fakhre at Symbian Tweet has highlighted the launch of a new Ovi portal named Do Good (ovi.com/dogood). As he explains, this points you in the direction of ‘some of the services and applications that Do Good for you and your community’

Sounds like a very eventful couple of days at Nokia World! Let us know what Ovi news has caught your eye the most @WOMWorldNokia
