GLOBAL – Maps.ovi.com‘s been given an update. It still looks pretty much the same, with its simple, easy-to-use layout. But it’s got more going on under the hood. With added transport links and the option to share your favourite places, with your own added images enhances the experience. Join us after the break to find out more about the latest Ovi Maps update.

Will over at the Ovi Blog, runs through the new changes to hit maps.ovi.com this week. Not only does Ovi Maps give you a map of anywhere in the world, with directions should you need it. But you’ve now got public transport marked out too, meaning it’s easier to see what transport links are near to your current location. Very useful if you’re in a major city and need to find your way around.

The update also includes WiFi positioning, so Ovi Maps knows where you are when you’re sat at your PC or laptop. This makes navigating anywhere much quicker and easier.

Sharing locations is easier too. Right clicking on a location and selecting Share lets you post that location to you Facebook wall or your Twitter status, so if your planning a night out with your friends, they’ll know where to meet you.

You can add public places too. Whereas Share just links to a position for your friends, adding a public place or place of business lets you add content to the map for everybody to see. So in effect, you’re given the power to build your own map, of the things that are important to you. You may have just started a business and want to plot it on the map, and you can do so. Or you just want to tell everybody about your favourite park, where it’s great to feed the ducks – or something. The point is, you can tell everybody about it.
