BARCELONA, Spain – The Conversations team has upped-sticks and moved to Spain this week for Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2011. The event combines the world’s leading conference for leaders in the mobile world together with an exhibition featuring more than 1300 companies, showing off the services, devices and apps that will shape the future of the industry, together with learning events and an awards programme. Approximately 50,000 people are expected to attend, most of them industry leaders in the sector.

So what’s Nokia’s participation at MWC? We’ll be reporting separately on the key sessions and with some of the exhibitors, but look out for the following:

Monday:
Mary McDowell, EVP mobile phones, will participate in a panel called “Taking apps to the mass market” (Hall 5, Auditorium 2; 14:00 CET).
Nokia Dev Day – an all-day conference about creating and selling apps with Nokia.

Wednesday:
President and CEO Stephen Elop will participate in a keynote panel entitled “Connecting the dots – a 360-degree view of consumer electronics” (Hall 5, Auditorium 1; 11:00 CET).
SVP & CTO Rich Green will take part in a panel called “Mobile Innovation: A View of 2020” (Hall 5, Room 5; 14:00 CET).

Thursday:
Teppo Paavola, VP Financial Services, will take part in a panel entitled: “Mobile Money: Mobile Strategies for Financial Institutions” (Hall5, Room 6; 14:00 CET).

In addition, if you’re attending, Navteq has stands in Halls 7 & 8; Nokia Siemens Networks has a stand in Hall 8; Qt is exhibiting in Hall 1, and also look out for the Intel MeeGo Pavillion in Hall 3.

Me, I’ve made the schoolboy error of coming in a new pair of shoes, and have already managed to rub my heels raw. If you’re here in Barcelona see a limping journalist at any of the events, come over and say hello.
