Nokia Asha 200 & 201 Preview

So, the brand new ‘Asha’ series of Nokia phones have just been announced during Stephen Elop’s keynote address at Nokia World 2011. New to the Nokia family are four sophisticated mobile phones that go by the names of the Asha 200, 201, 300 and 303. We’ll be paying particular attention to the Asha 200 and 201 in this post.

“The line is bluring between mobile phone and smartphone devices”

No nonsense and affordable were the words used to describe the Asha range which are designed to merge the boundaries between smartphone and ‘feature phones’. We take a full look into what we can expect from the Asha 200 and 201. Enjoy!

Hardware & Features

The Nokia Asha 200/201

Weighing in at 105grams the Nokia Asha 200 & 201 are QWERTY enabled phones that are big on colour – we’re talking pink, green, aqua and orange amongst others. As with the rest of the Asha range, the 200 & 201 are made from polycarbonate. The screens are 2.4″ with a resolution of 320×240. They pack a 10MB expandable memory which can be extended to 32GB via a microSD card. For photo and video fans there’s also a 2MP rear facing camera with QCIF video.

There are some super cool features on the Asha 200 and 201 – perhaps the coolest being the 201’s dualSIM ability function, meaning you can have two SIMs running at the same time! Other fun features in both phones include a hyper fast web browser and the ability to directly download your favourite apps and games! You can also play music out loud, record directly from the radio and even tune your own ringtones. All that and I didn’t even mention the customisable home screen 😉
