Nokia World 2011 Announcements: First reactions from across the world!

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop has kicked off NokiaWorld with some huge announcements in his opening keynote address.

The cause was clear from the outset when Stephen announced “We’re playing to win”.

We didn’t have to wait long before the brand spanking new Nokia Lumia and Nokia Asha series of phones were announced. We’ve taken a quick dip into the world wide web to gauge what the feedback from the announcement has been.

The Nokia Lumia Series

The pure premium Nokia Lumia 800 elicited some great initial feedback with @vdharankar making his thoughts below fairly clear!

@nokia lumia 800 is awesome I am already in love with that #n9 design and now #wp7 on it its a cherry on a cake , screeming …… 😀

The no nonsense and affordable Nokia Lumia 710 wasn’t far behind with @rschu seemingly very happy.

That’s the game changer! “Retail price for the Nokia Lumia 710 is very reasonable

The Nokia Asha Series

Blurring the line between a smartphone and a ‘feature phone’ the Nokia Asha series of mobile phones also made their debut with four new models including the Nokia Asha 200, 201, 300 and 303. @obefiend summed it up quite nicely:

It’s a brimful of #nokiaAsha on a S40. Everybody needs a nokia for a pillow. Everybody needs a nokia.

It wasn’t just the phones that were the main talking point, there were plenty of awesome feature announcements including those focusing on the sports, games and Nokia Music, the latter of which requires no usernames or passwords – you just go in and start playing music. Here’s what @bharadc23 has to say about the matter:

Nokia Music and Nokia Drive WILL be the differentiation factor for Nokia‘s Lumia smartphones

That’s what the world is saying right now. Keep an eye on Nokia Connects and @Nokia_Connects through the day where we’ll be covering all the big discussion points!
