Here is a little something for all you perma-earphone-wearing music maestros out there. Nokia Music have just developed some new features for the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710 that make streaming, purchasing and experiencing music far more accessible and easier to source. Music to your ears? Then read on…

As far as I’m aware, no one has developed a machine that toasts, butters and puts jam on my bread in the morning, but if they did, I know I’d want to hear about it. Anyway, less about my dream breakfast making machine and more about what could be your dream music experience with Nokia. Who knows you might think it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Nokia Mix Radio – Streaming

Here is a brand new feature from Nokia Music. If you’re like me and want to stream new music when you get bored of the same old playlists then why not try Mix Radio. The application is free and works right out of the box with no subscription or need to create an account. From the home screen of the app you are just a touch away from streaming music from our catalogue of 14.5 million tracks, which can also be stored offline.

The beauty of Mix Radio is that within each genre there is a sub genre, therefore allowing you to really focus in on a specific musical taste. Let’s say you love Dance music but you are also inclined to listen to a bit of Indie; the unique channels let you not only stream the music, but offline cache the whole channel. Just tap and hold the music tile to download and listen later. Each channel has mixes from new and established artists so you can find your favourites but also experiment a bit.

You can also personalise your own music mix, I think this is the most intriguing part of Mix Radio. If you are not sure what you want to listen to or you just fancy being lazy then there’s a function that creates mixes based on the tracks you already own in your Nokia library. With this option you get an all you can eat music buffet that serves you tracks from your favourite genre menus. So if your ears are hungry make sure you feed them with some healthy tailored beats!

In an update due later this year, you will be able to create your own mixes and channels from a catalogue of millions of songs. Currently it works by choosing mixes made up of ‘locally-relevant’ music which can then be streamed straight from the Lumia 800

Nokia MP3 Store – Purchasing

‘What if I want to download and own a track I listen to on Mix Radio’, I hear you ask? Well with Mix Radio you are just one click away from purchasing a track you like. There are millions of tracks to choose from in the Nokia MP3 Store so all of your needs are hopefully always catered for.

Search through new releases, albums and singles then just tap to purchase and download to the handset. The music will automatically add itself to your library so you can carry on purchasing and searching for new music.

Nokia Gigs – Experiencing Live Music

We all love to listen to our music on a mobile phone but there is no substitute for the real thing. The Gigs feature of Nokia Music lets you find out when and where your favourite artists are playing live performances. The nice interface gives users a who, what and where rundown before letting you click through to purchase tickets. So technically you could purchase tickets to see a gig of the artist or band you are listening to before the track ends! Also, every gig goer needs a classy pair of cans. So don’t forget to get yourself some of these amazing Monster headphones.
