NEW YORK, NY, United States – The Nokia Lumia 710 was branded by mainstream news outlets as a phone for the people after its launch here yesterday.
Brooklyn-based indie band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah performed at the Winter Wonderland themed launch in New York.
As guests mingled with an Abominable Snowman and a dancer performed in a giant “ice bubble”, guests got a their first hands-on with the Nokia Lumia 710.
And bloggers raced to get the message out via the Web. Here’s a video of one presenter from a Nokia Blog. You’ve got to love his enthusiasm and his speedy delivery.
The launch succeeded in getting blanket coverage across the American media, announcing the arrival of the Nokia Lumia 710.
The Wall Street Journal said: “Choosing to launch with that model, rather than the higher-end Lumia 800, means that Nokia could appeal to more cost-conscious shoppers.”
USA Today’s Edward C. Baig says: “I like the Mango experience and think Nokia is smart by bringing out a device at such an attractive price and doing so in a more quiet period after the holidays.”
CBS says: “With the Lumia 710, priced at $49.99 and available on January 11, Nokia and T-Mobile are going after consumers who own a basic cell phone, but have been hesitant to upgrade to a more complicated smartphone.”
