Baseball-legends-Terry-Francona-and-Orel-Hershiser-checked-out-the-Nokia-Lumia-900-at-the-booth

Las Vegas, NV, United States – ESPN is the most widely-recognized sports leader in the United States and arguably the world. The Connecticut-based sports authority, which started as a cable TV sports network, is now rapidly expanding into mobile.

Nokia is proud to have ESPN as a partner working with us to make the Lumia line of phones an amazing resource for people. Through the exclusive ESPN application for the Nokia Lumia 710 and Lumia 800, Lumia owners can quickly access scores, news and highlights on their favorite teams across virtually every sport.

The app will be fully customizable to cover the sports and the teams you follow, with a simple swipe taking users between news, scores, video and analysis.

Here at CES in Las Vegas, it’s been enterataining to see how booth visitors take to the ESPN application. You see, while at a sporting event, it’s amazing to be able to get scores and statistucs as they unfold on the field. People are latching on the ESPN app in an amazing way.

Orel Hershiser

As a treat in the Nokia booth yesterday, former Boston Red Sox Manager Terry Francona and LA Dodgers pitching legend Orel Hershiser came to explore the Nokia Lumia 900.

Nokia spokesperson Chris Hollis demonstrated the Lumia 900 and answered questions from two of baseball’s biggest living legends.

Judging on his reaction and questions, Hershiser could be a fan of the Lumia 900. He spent a few moments holding it and asking Chris all about the Windows Phone OS and the exclusive apps that Nokia has brought to the Lumia family of devices.

The ESPN app is being featured prominently at the Nokia demonstration pit.

When I asked the Nokia employee demonstrating the application, she said visitors are impressed with the app’s ease of use and how easy it is to get to your teams, scores and conferences in whatever sport you follow.

Booth visitor Chris, of Austin Texas, told me, “The ESPN app will be a major buying factor for me in my next phone. I love sports, specifically college football, and ESPN is my main source of information. I’m anxious to see where they take the app next in terms of features and experience.”

Bringing content partners such as ESPN to the Lumia platform ensures there’s even broader appeal for Lumia devices across the USA and the world. Find out what other apps have been introduced at the show.
