GLOBAL – Top tunes in the Nokia World Chart this week from India, Canada, Germany and as far east as the Philippines. Our resident DJ Danny Brewer guides you through all of them from his unique behind-the-decks viewpoint. All the songs can be found at the Nokia Music Store where you can try before you buy after checking out our videos below.

Chikni Chameli – Shreya Ghoshal: Lustrous, suggestive and awesome: three words for this upbeat Bollywood extravaganza. This is my kind of fast-paced sound, perfect for any late-night DJ bar set. Slipping this between Shakira and Latin American beats, the rhythm will drive anyone to distraction. Based around the forthcoming 2012 thriller, Agneepath, emotions run wild in the music video that has seen eight million hits in a month. From innocent young boy to drug lord of Mumbai, the whole experience is somehow ludicrously tasteful.

Ours – Taylor Swift: Topping the Philippines music chart this week is Taylor Swift, an export that spans world culture. It tackles a variety of social issues: carelessness, emptiness, and love. Taylor is a wife impatiently waiting for her hubby to come home. Shot in a lacklustre office block, she works 9 – 5 but aspires for more. The underlying notion of aspiration is there throughout this encounter. You certainly won’t be disappointed.

Gotye – Somebody that I used to know (feat. Kimbra): Grand feelings abound in this tune of love gone awry. Anyone can identify with this song, as it represents the true nature of life and love. Pushing the boundaries of body make-up, Gotye do not mess about, creating a vibrant display of active love.

Jessie J – Domino: Partying away in her all black party dress, her hair, shoes and adventurous spirit all blur into a blissful mad dash of emotion in this video of girly pride. As the background changes, so do her expectations, getting brighter with every passing second. Putting her ego ahead of anything else, she has a passing resemblance to Madonna of the old days. Her wit, charm and persona all make for a cracking video that has already racked up 16 million hits across the Web.

Kuck is Tarah – Atif Talk: About resurgence, this is a tune that was released back in 2007 and has been thrown straight back into the thick of it by these lovers of romance. With lurve and soul at its core, the Kuck is Tarah (Somehow Like This) video features a collection of melancholy stills of the love of Atif’s life. You’ll be powerless to resist the imagery. I beg you, watch and appreciate this five minutes of bliss.

Nokia Music Store – Remix of the Week

Adele – Set Fire to the Rain (Thomas Gold Remix) Expertly pitched and superbly fashioned, Adele’s voice saunters over the top of a marching electro band. Energetic, surging trumpets flow out of every looping drum.

It’s the perfect Ibiza tune. And it’s my Ace in the pack, so powerful that everyone bows to the DJ booth, or buys me a Sambuca! Creating a swathe of remixes, Thomas Gold has enveloped the dance scene in five minutes of blissful dance!

While Adele has taken the world by storm, her songs have become a mixer’s dream. Some of the best songs of 2011 have been Adele-sourced beauties. It’s about tapping into those soulful sounds and making them jingle and dance.
