Before I do, however, here’s a recap for those of you who might have missed the original competition. To celebrate Nokia Mix Radio’s ability to choose new music for you based on your tastes, we asked you to tell us which other song you’d mash-up with Lana Del Rey‘s single ‘Video Games‘ and why. Lana’s powerful vocals and melancholy blues style has taken the music world by storm, and she was recently named International Breakthrough at the 2012 Brit Awards.
We had several inspiring entries, and some quirky ones too – some of the suggested mash-ups I could actually almost hear in my head! But overall there can only ever be one winner, and so without further ado I’m pleased to announce that…

Vijay’s mash-up won a unanimous vote by all here at Nokia Connects, since we felt that his choice of song reflected not just on the depth of meaning in Lana’s songs, but also the durability of her music. The Godfather is such a classic film, which speaks to something eternal about the human condition, and Lana’s music is also a part of this tradition. Also, ‘Speak Softly Love‘ is just such a great song!

A special shout out to Marco89 – who was the only entrant to suggest a classical piece for the mash-up; he though Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’ would make a great accaccompaniment to Lana’s sultry vocals – and Christos Petkids, who clearly put a lot of thought into his entry!
