Red Bull adventure

GLOBAL – Red Bull co-founder Chaleo Yoovidhya died away on Saturday March 17th at the age of 89. He turned his original remedy for jet lag into a carbonated legend after meeting the Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz in Thailand in 1984.

Together they tweaked the formula and came up with one of most successful energy drinks, and advertising brands, of all time.

Even if you’ve never bought an energy drink there’s something about Red Bull that’s just gripping. It’s going to be exciting to see how Nokia’s new partnership with Red Bull media develops – a new app is in development and was announced at Mobile World Congress.

Until then we’ll have to be content with watching the Red Bull TV app.  You might have already downloaded it for free from the Ovi Store, and now you can get it on the Nokia Lumia too.

I’ve never done a half-pipe in my life, but I first got hooked on watching Red Bull air racing – and I can easily be entertained by some quick shots of pure adrenaline.

This app has loads of content with every extreme sport you could imagine – and a few you probably hadn’t like kayaking over giant waterfalls – as well as clips of your favourite sports stars, like Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel, too.

You can watch edited clips or a live feed, and share them with your friends, or go behind the scenes at big events and parties.  And there’s quite a lot of music from the Red Bull Music Academy too.

Take the plunge

Let’s face it – I’m never going to do any of these things. And I’m frightened of heights. Still I can dream, and imagine I’ll take the plunge by watching.
