ThinkerToys give e-waste a new life

A mind blowing amount of E-waste is produced in the US every year, 50 million metric tons in fact! What can be done to battle this problem and perhaps turn a lot of bad into good? Well, after observing landfill problems first hand in Cambodia, designer and technologist Dhairya Dand came up with the idea of ThinkerToys.

Dhairya’s project uses old computers, keyboards, TV’s and many other general ‘household’ pieces of technology by combining them with Arduino boards, to create new gadgets that can help to educate children. The re-invented hardware challenges children with simple puzzles, math problems or even their reading. More info in the above link.
