The Descriptive Camera

Have you ever wondered how a machine sees the world? Obviously, we’re decades away from a Terminator-style augmented vision with clever information on the subjects that come across its sight. For now, we’ll have to go with the descriptive camera. By coupling a digital camera with a thermal printer, Matt Richardson is able to produce a written description of a scene such as: “It’s a dark room with a window, the image is quite pixelated”. Could this help the blind see the world one day?
