Trashcam Project Uses Dumpsters As Cameras

The Trashcam Project is the brainchild of four German sanitation workers and photographer Matthew Hewing, who came together for this utterly unique art project. The team installed a bunch of pinhole cameras in 1,000-liter dumpsters in some of their favorite spots in Hamburg, capturing the spirit of the city through trash. Pinhole cameras are notoriously testy devices, and sometimes getting a good shot can be extremely difficult, but we think these photographs have come out beautifully. Check out the rest of their Flickr photostream here.
