Nokia Connects brings you the best and most inspiring images from around the world this week.
1. The World’s Biggest Human Smiley
Yes, you heard right. April 27 saw the creation of the world’s biggest human smiley on a soccer pitch at a university in Nanjing, China. The smiley was made with help of 3,110 people – that’s a lot of smiles!
2. May Day
The first of May is celebrated in many countries around the world, and is an ancient Spring festival which in the Northern Hemisphere dates back to the Celts. It is also celebrated in other parts of the world both as a Spring festival and as International Worker’s Day. This photo shows the Morris dancers of Adderbury, UK, who perform every year.
3. Star Wars Day
May the fourth be with you… Today is the day that geeks and nerds the world over can show their true colours and celebrate everything Star Wars related. So here’s a picture to get you going!
4. International Jazz Day
April 30 marked the first annual International Jazz Day, launched by UNESCO as a way of maintaining and celebrating Jazz’s unique cultural and musical legacy.
5. Miss Gay Nicaragua
Not your ordinary beauty contest, Miss Gay Nicaragua is a competition to choose “the queen of the transvestites”. 22-year-old designer Laveleska Dredrish, who vowed to continue fighting for LGBT rights across the world, was crowned the winner.
