Time-lapse video: annular solar eclipse

I don’t know about you, but I swear every time I hear about an eclipse of sorts ‘they’ always make it sound like they happen every 50 years and that you just can’t miss them! I’m pretty sure every year somewhere in the world there is an eclipse…I’m probably wrong and somewhere an Astronomer is cursing away reading this, but please can somebody teach me more about the cycles of the moon, Earth and the sun (and essentially when they cross-over!).

Anyway, rant over. This ‘annular eclipse’ looked amazing and i’m really gutted that I missed it. The time-lapse video captured by astrophotographer Cory Poole is even more amazing, the moon was slightly too far away from the Earth to completely block out the sun.
