'Mars please, Driver!'

via Wikipedia

I’ve been hearing this all my adult life. ‘We’ll be living on Mars/the moon/asteroids by 2010/2015/2023 (delete as appropriate date gets ever closer)’. But now a company called Mars One intends to set up a colony on the Red Planet just 11 years from now. Huh. They have a detailed plan, including stages like sending a rover to find the best spots, sending a (presumably) self-building structure after it, and they even have the exact date they’ll be sending their first astronauts. Fair play to them, I’ll believe it when I see it!
